Last week I went to the American Fleadh concert. Which consisted of several Irish and Irish-American bands. I had gone there to see Flogging Molly play (they were headlining). All the bands (minus one) were great, but one band really stood out. The Saw Doctors. They played right before Flogging Molly and opened with a song "Tommy K" which was catchy as all hell and I immediately liked them. All of their songs were just great and I was surprised at how many people knew their songs. Turns out they are a pretty popular band in Ireland and the half of the audience that wasn't there for Flogging Molly was there to see the Saw Doctors. Anyways it's a really rare thing for me to instantly like a band the first time I hear them, especially when it's a live concert. Now that I've gotten an internet connection I've downloaded a few of their songs, and they are all great. OK I'm done now.

Two spring to mind. Saw the Faint live a couple years ago-- they just happened to be playing at one of my haunts, and they blew me the frig away. One of the best shows I've seen. They have become a little anemic live, but are still worth checking out.
Second, a band called Simian. My brother played them for me. I know nothing about them, beyond that they rawk rawk rawk. |

All the time. I think the last one was The Distillers.

Almost every band I love I loved when I first heard them. Band that I fell in love with at a concert first? hmm... my top vote would be Zegota. That band blew me away when I saw them live.

For me, my brother dragged me to a Sigur Ros concert about a year and a half ago, now I can't go two days without listening to them. |

After listening to the first 4 songs of The Dandy Warhols' "...Come Down" a few years ago at a friends house, they have been my favorite band ever since.
