I can't believe they forgot to put the moral at the bottom of the original story:
"bow before god, or have your head squished like an overripe watermelon." (Oh, and sometimes, he'll do so anyways, just for the hell of it) 'Cause, you know, that's what god's love is all about, according to the bible. |

Dive II - The Sequel
Upon turning to christianity, the young diver began wasting all his time with bible study groups. He neglected his training and got kicked out of the olympic team. But he didn't care because Jesus was all there was to his life, and he knew that God forgave him no matter what he did. Taking the advise of his christian "friend", the ex-diver cut all his ties to his freethinking family as he sank deeper and deeper into religiousness. Almost all his savings and income went straight to the church, until after a while he got fired for proselytizing customers at McDonalds. At that point, the man's congregation lost their interest in helping the man, and he didn't dare contact his family in fear of defying God's will. Torn between the religious brainwashing he had received, and the guilt caused by his failures he started drinking. After a year or so, the young man decided he couldn't take it anymore. He broke into his old college swimming pool, which happened to be empty, and climbed up the stairs to the very same diving board where his fall had begun. He extended his arms and swallowed nervously as he contemplated the suicide plan. Then, he casually looked back and saw that his shadow formed a figure of darwin fish, complete with the word "Darwin" in it. He squinted his eyes, but the shadow remained as such. The man looked at the shadow, then the empty bottle in his hand, then the shadow again. He said, "okay, enough with this crap", threw the bottle away and went back home to sober up. Nowadays, he's again a happy atheist living in a loving monogamous relationship with the pool maintenance guy. The End. |
