Shouldn't parents be scared about sending their children to a catholic sponsored event? Sounds about as safe as a visit to Michael Jackson's house?
I'm glad I aren't Canadian, this has only wasted 1 hour of TV time here so far. |

It is wearing a little thin; however I'll take the Catholics over the Fundies anytime. By in large they are nice and decadent and comfortable with themselves. Heck if I ever have to go to church I choose RC. The pomp, ritual, and architecture are far classier than a slick suit spouting charismatic crap.

I could have cared less about World Youth Day were it not for the fact that it’s wasting valuable television time. For the entirety of this week CBC’s The National has spent at least 30 minutes discussing World Youth Day as though there is nothing even slightly more important to inform the public about. And countless more hours are wasted everyday on live coverage of the events.
What I’m really ticked off about is the fact that the grounds WYD is hosted on has been designated “private property” for the event, that is why the police was able to get rid of that dissident Catholic group handing out condoms, etc. |

I'm so glad it's finally over. I've spent the week fuming over the fawning coverage given by almost all the media.
The only decent opinion piece written,IMO, was this piece in the Toronto Star by Linda McQuaig: <a href="http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&c=Article&cid=1026143735531&call_pag e=TS_News&call_pageid=968332188492&call_pagepath=N ews/News" target="_blank">Tame Media Kept Gloves on</a> <edited to fix URL> [ July 29, 2002: Message edited by: scrumpy ]</p> |

Well, I'm sick of seeing thousands of kids sitting mesmerised at the feet of a decrepit old celibate man, and taking life direction from him.
And Australians are particularly sick of it because our very own arch-conservative archbishop (of Sydney), George Pell, was reported as saying that abortion was a greater sin than child abuse. He's deep in the doo-doo when he gets back to Oz! |

You see all these children crying over the pope, and yet it says not to idolize people in the bible.
It's like a boy-band coming to town and all the little girls are crying. Ooh it's N-sync! Further propaganda by religion and the church. Infecting more humans with the god germ, great. Best to get em while they're young and not too bright. |

Right. He is saying "Make children and we will abuse them". |
