Of course, if you have direct deposit and pay your bills online, you're doubly damned and should repent right now.

Which is good, because I honestly haven't set foot in a bank in about six months. I do all of my banking on the Internet (never from work) or over the phone. I don't even write cheques to my landlord - email money transfers ROCK, baby! I also tend to use Interac to pay for everything - and my bank gives me free insurance if someone steals and uses my card. All in support of the EAC, of course. Sssh! |

Folks, I've been doing some checking, and it looks like direct deposit is just the first step on that oh-so-slippery slope to Hell!
"And the LORD spoke to Noah, saying 'blessed be the man that balanceth his checkbook by hand, and accursed is he that useth Quicken," to which Noah replied 'shall a righteous man manage his finances with Microsoft Money?' to which the LORD replied 'nay, for a man who would rule the world by a system of operation is surely wicked'." Genesis 3:1, 3:2, XP and... "The money lenders whom doth decry the use of paper, and demand transactions upon the high airs of the ether shall feel the wrath of the LORD" Numbers 7.0 Anyone else find it odd that a PIN number rhymes with a SIN number??? Yes, kiddies...direct deposit just leads to greater sins like online banking and online bill-pay, which are quite clearly forbidden by the Bible! |

I love direct deposit. On-the-other-hand, automatic withdrawals I try to keep to a minimum.
I'm a little unclear about this end time stuff though. Aren't some of these fundy-types looking forward to the end since they've been living the clean life (?) and will be with "god" all the sooner? Or is it that if they have anything personally to do with direct deposit, they'll be as bad as us heathens and not be saved? My company uses bar codes for all sorts of identification and record-keeping purposes. I probably scan a bar code a couple of hundred times a shift. I didn't get the jist exactly of the bar-code link, but I'll just accept the fact that there's no hope for me making it to heaven. |

I used to have direct deposit and loved it. Now, I don't, because my company is too small to make it cost effective.
I do have the mortgage and utility bill on autopay, which is good because you can schedule it to pay your bills on the last possible day and not have to worry about the check getting lost in the mail or forgetting to pay a bill and screwing up your credit. I could put the phone bill on autopay, but have had too many screw ups to trust it. I'm thinking about putting my student loans on autopay, which gives you a slight discount, but that bill is my main discretionary saving tool. When I have extra money in the bank, it goes towards the loans, when I don't, I pay the minimum. If you have direct deposit and autopay, as I used to for a brief time, it really is neat. Money comes in, money comes out, and you don't have to mess with it. |
