Yes, I read a good deal of that thread. Heebeegeebees all over the place. Those Baptists are pretty over the top.

Harvest, indeed. As if they see all non-believers as some kind of mindless vegetable and it's thier right and duty to gather us all up for consumption. Like the 'harvestee' has no say in the matter, just a pumpkin sitting there getting fat waiting to be plucked, mashed and cooked into a pie, so they can feel all good about themselves. Yech. I need a little nausious smiley. Can we get a little nausious-looking smiley around here please?

you know if were any other belief system they would say that was very cult-like. why are any different? religious recruiting of any kind is terrifying to me. next thing you know they'll all be holed up in a mansion waiting to take cyanide & ride the comet to heaven!

I agree that "harvesting" is an odd term to use, especially when they can use some term like "recruiting".

I saw a post on the BBC Christian board by a fundy bragging about having saved 147 people, so obviously an accurate "saved" count is very important to them. (Interestingly enough, her husband isn't saved, he's just a Methodist.) I was also told that they get extra kudos for saving Jews.

Ouhhh!! Extra points for Jews!

Sort of reminds me of 'Death Race 2000' :

Quote:
To recap those revisions: women are still worth 10 points more than men in all age brackets, but teenagers now rack up 40 points, and toddlers under 12 now rate a big 70 points. The big score: anyone, any sex, over 75 years old has been upped to 100 points.

Cleopatra: It isn't my fault everyone scored before us. You should have gone after that boy scout camp like I told you!
Nero the Hero: I tried the goddamn boy scout camp. You know how fast those boy scouts move?
Cleopatra: Now here's something more your speed.
Nero the Hero: That'll be at least 200 points!
Cleopatra: If they scatter, go for the baby and the mother.

One fundee slogan I see around town at nearly every church is, "Get involved, time for VBS!" (* Vacation Bible School)
My university has a large fundee enrollment, and those flyers around campus for stating, "Christian support group meeting on Wednesdays at Chaple by the Lake Church," really bother me.:banghead:
