Iraq WMD claims from George Bushs January 28 2003 State of the Union:

25,000 liters of anthrax found to date - none

38,000 liters of botulinum toxin found to date - none

500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent. found to date- none

30,000 munitions capable of delivering chemical weapons found to date 16 empty field artillery warheads out of an ammo dump stacked with tens of thousands of hells.
Note that Iraq *ADMITTED* to having produced those agents (although I don't remember the quantities admitted to.) They claimed to have destroyed them in accordance with our demands, but their documentation of this makes Enron's accounting look good.

As for 16 shells--if there's 16 there are a lot more. You don't make such a design and produce only 16.

Actually the empty arty shells (shells not filled with payload) aren't all that suspicious. Basically projectiles can be filled with anything from HE to fleschettes, and sixteen unfilled projectiles may not mean anything more than the assembly line missed filling sixteen shells. Sixteen rounds out of the thousands they found in the munitions dump seems more like a logistics hose up than a coverup. And if there were a lot more then why weren't they released to the front? Do you believe for a second that if our country were being invaded we'd hesitate to release such weapons, especially for use in nearly unpopulated desert areas hundreds of miles from the capital?

But I know where all the WMD are. They're with Elvis, Jimmy Hoffa and the Hale Bopp Cult heading out of the Solar system in a flying saucer.

To the editor of The Guardian:

Dear sir,
Today I recorded what I believe is the first national sighting of the elusive Ron Garrett in spring.
The Ron Garrett appeared in fine shape and full athletecism, and may return to the patch it has marked out.
I shall, of course, keep your columnists notified.
Regards,
Watchful of Hampstead Heath

You should post more, Ron.
You always write interesting stuff, and it's a shame you don't drop in more often.

That's nice of you to say G, but it takes me weeks to work up something interesting and pithy to say, so I only post occasionally to maintain the illusion of incisiveness.

Actually, I kind of gave up on the whole being an atheist anti-christ thing for a while having gotten busy with corporate expansion and becoming politically active again for the first time since the Carter administration. But I hope to be around more often, since this is the only place I can find intelligent conversation without flying out to Cal Tech.

Of course not all conversation here is intellectually stimulating, as Blix just reminded me..

Loren

I find it hard to believe that anyone could not see that Iraq posed a threat. The time frame of that threat was a big question mark but if we didn't act someday we would find ourselves staring down the barrel. It was also obvious that diplomacy wasn't going to work. Thus it comes down to use force or hope he dies first.

Doesn't matter what you believe, that does not constitute eminet threat the only basis that the Hague recognizes as provocation for armed conflict. Accordingly your President Bush is guilty of the highest of war crimes. :banghead:

But that's too late. He wouldn't have made the threat imminent until he was ready to take us on.
