Oh yeah! You should've mentioned the Philosophy thing right off the bat. Yeah, don't worry, dude. Having that as your major will help you beat back those who've only had an intro. course or two, and will allow you to set the heads of any theists reeling. They'll be so confused, they'll revert to their circular logic or just 'Godidit!' Heck, you may even help deconvert somebody!

Good luck to you!

Edit to add: you'll probably hear jokes about how what you can expect to hear from Philosophy majors after graduation: "You want fries with that?"

I graduated from a small Southern Baptist college despite the fact that I'm a hardcore Deadhead. (It's a long story). I had known my roommate since middle school, and he knew to leave me alone when it came to religion. He was far more religious than me, and he had an extremely visible campus job in the student center. I met very few people while I was in college, so my roommate used to think it was funny- whenever someone would ask who his roommate was, he'd tell 'em it was the guy who wore the red hat and the Dead shirts all the time. Supposedly, ever person he ever told this to instantly knew who I was...

I wouldn't worry about being an atheist at a xian school. You may stand out if you're open about it (like I was). Otherwise, nobody will care; and nobody bothered me even though I stood out. I would simply NOT tell my roommate, but I despise hypocrisy and dishonesty, so I personally would be honest if he asked. If he then took it upon himself to lead me to God, I would simply explain that I was not interested in what he had to say. I would also note that if he wanted me to respect his religious beliefs, then he would need to respect mine (or the lack thereof), and thus agree to disagree...
