I personally think season 3 will play out backwards, Memento style.

Jack Bauer won't be back for season 3. I don't think Sutherland will commit to a 3rd season outside of a cameo in the first episode to set up the new guy.
He's already signed up for Season 3. There's too much of the show invested into the character; it'd be tough as hell to hold together without him.

That makes sense. I agree, losing Bauer would be nuts (no one else could play him as well), unless they have him die sometime during the show. Still shocked that Sutherland can play a character.

Thinking about the significant death toll (characters that were in a few episodes).

Tony lost his sister
Jack Bauer died once
George Mason
Probably Palmer (I remember people thinking Terri was going to survive)
Kate's PI
Kate's sister's fiance

Am I missing someone? That's a pretty big list. Love 24. CAN'T WAIT!!!

The girl from Rosanne that was killed in the explosion at CTU

The foriegn agent that was killed by the rampaging rednecks

The mom of the kid that Kim was nanny to

Kate Warners sisters fiance

The presidents assistant when she fell over the stairs (of course we never actually saw her die so she will likely be back next season to press charges against Mike)

Default Here's the 24 body count

Mandy is played by about Mia Kirshner. Just what the series needs...more Canadians.

---

I did a complete bodycount for 24 on another message board.

Hour 1:

Marshall Goren, the killer/pornoghaper/molestor Jack kills/decapitates

Hour 2:

Nobody!

Hour 3:

Telephone technician shot by the milita types and rolled into a ditch
The torture victim in the opening scene found dead by Mason
The officer accompanying Mason is shot
A second officer shoots the gunmen
C.T.U. goes Boom - no death count at the time

Hour 4:

19 dead so far at CTU
Bauer shoots Militia Chris & Militia Scott, killing both
Militia Eddie tries to run over Jack, shot in the head
Joe kills himself

Hour 5:

Darlene makes it 20 at CTU.
Helicopter crashes. The ambassador and his security officer. I'll add the pilot into that for 3.

Hour 6:

Nobody!

Hour 7:

Security type shot as Jack et al. break into Mahmoud's store.
Oops! There goes another one.
That's 3!
And that woman makes 4!
And we find out what happened to Carla

Hour 8:

The CTU count hits the big 3-0.
The terrorist develops a heart of gold, just before it stops beating.
But he doesn't go down alone.
When gift cards attack! Only on FOX!

(At this point - 50 dead)

Hour 9:

Since the pilot and the unnamed agent weren't seen post-crash, I assume they're dead.
And if they weren't the guys who shot Agent Phillips would have taken care of them
Camouflage guy #1
Camouflage guy #2
Camouflage guy #3
Camouflage guy #4
Camouflage guy #5
Camouflage guy #6
Camouflage guy #7
Kate's investigator, Paul

Hour 10:

god, i LOVE this show!!

the finale was excellent...as soon as i saw mia kirshner's character reaching out to palmer from the crowd, i just KNEW she was going to infect him with something. i tend to agree with nogods4me's theory about them basing the next season on finding a cure for whatever's infecting palmer.

can't wait to see what happens!!

Homer, you rock! Kudos on the death toll chart.

Keep in mind that if S3 is continuous with S2, Jack won't have much to do at first -- I'm sure he'll need an operation or two, unless those heart attack thingies were just flukes. Plus, Kim is probably at her wit's end -- a good excuse to keep her out, though -- and Kate, lacking superhuman powers, would be exhausted. (Believe me, it's really hard to actually stay awake for 24 hours.)

I don't know what they're going to do for S3, whether they'll try to save Palmer or use another hook entirely. But I'm telling you, Richard Walsh is behind it all!

Hey, I've got to bring back the 24 thread. My fiancee and I have been doing serious wedding-planning stuff lately, so to compensate for the long hours sitting inside gluing invitations together, we rented season 1 on DVD (we saw season 2 when it aired, but not season 1.) we finished up with the 11:00 - midnight episode last niht.

We really liked season 2 when it was on, but man! Season 1 just kicked ass! What a great show! Even though we knew the surprise ending, it was still quite powerful to watch.

We're really looking forward to season 3 (especially now that Buffy is done.) I read that definitely Kiefer will be back; in fact, they basically had the plot of season 3 worked out before they shot season 2. Hopefully there is some tie-over, since the season 2 ending seemed a little unresolved to me.

And I'm really hoping that the Kim Bauer subplot revolves around, say, that she gets a flat tire and spends 24 hours trying to figure out how to fix it. I think that would be well-suited for the Kim character.

Well duhhh. Didn't you see the last Buffy? As I predicted, here , Kim is now a slayer. So that part of 24 should get real interesting.

Mandy planted a bomb on an airliner and parachuted to safety in the first episode of season 1. Apparently, she needed to blow up the plane in order for an assassin's fake ID to work. No, it doesn't make sense, which is why the plane-blowing-up plot point was pretty much forgotten for the rest of the "day." (Kind of like blowing up CTU in Day 2, though they at least revisited that from time to time.)

Mandy herself disappeared into thin air, after showing her boobs and kissing a girl. She was gone by, like, episode 4.

At first, I didn't recognize her when she re-appeared.

I also kept a running death toll when I watched the show -- all in one 24-hour period. And I counted only 95.

Could be I didn't count as dead some characters I can only assume were wounded. Also, I only count a pilot killed in the helicopter and airplane crashes; there's no way to know what other crew were aboard.

Also, I didn't count Jack Bauer, though he was the only "death" between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m.

Note, the Kim plot alone claimed 4 precious human lives. Or 3 and a scumbag.
