Default Story Update: Non-Parents thread

Hey everyone,

I just want to thank everyone who participated in my non-parent's thread a few weeks ago. The whole process helped me clarify my feelings about it and develop a theme for my short story.

I had my first draft workshoped (critiqued) in class on Friday, and it was a huge success! Everybody loved it. I'm polishing it up to send in to some literary mags on the advice of my instructor. I just can't believe it!

So thanks everyone!

Congratulations! I'm thrilled to hear that your story was well-accepted.

I hope that magazines beat each other with big sticks, each vying for the honor of publishing you.

Good show! Just what I would expect from a Colorado Infidel! Did you change it much from what you discussed in your earlier thread?

Not much. I liked it the way it was, kinda felt in the zone, you know?

So I decided to go with my gut and see what the response was. I was kind of expecting people to say it needed more resolution, more character development, etc.

I can't believe the response I got. It was amazing. It was supposed to be a first draft, but the instructor said she wouldn't change it except to polish up the typos and such. It was pretty thrilling to get such high priase from the people in the class who's writing I really admire!

So just sending it in is going to be a trip, but if I win the thousand dollar prize...

Well, I don't want to get ahead of myself.
