The only way you could know which allele of a gene was the most common, which is what I assume you mean by 'normal', one would be if you had a very large sampling. Unless there is a specific disease associated witht the mutation then it probably wouldn't make a great difference, the odd SNP leading to a synonymous substitution here and there isn't going to cause much of a problem.
