Okay, kiddies... once again it's Arken's tinfoil hat time...
All of this scandal about Bush and the uranium... no WMDs being found... false ties to Iraq and Al'Qaeda... and then in the middle of this, the congressional report on 9/11 (done by a team chaired by a republican) is coming out and the news agencies claim that Saudi Arabia will be implicated at least in part. And we've been pulling our troops out of bases there in large numbers lately. Is Bush going to start beating war drums against the Saudis? Could that be what he's been hiding? |

I don't think so...Bush isn't good at keeping his feelings in check and he has never shown any animosity towards Saudi Arabia even though they were closer to having ties to 9/11 than Iraq ever was. He has every reason to consider them suspicious at least. But instead he's protected them...they have some kind of ties with the Carlyl group and other business ventures from what I understand. He's done all he can to keep the Saudi's under the radar and diverting the blame to everyone else.
Actually I think pulling the troops out was done for them as a favor and not as an indication of bad relations. But I could be wrong. ![]() |

Arken from everything I've read its more likely that close ties to the rest of the Bin Laden family and embarrasing revelations about some of the Bush family's bosom buddies is the only thing that's kept the spotlight off the Saudis (bear in mind the Bin Ladens had property spitting distance from CIA headquarters and some family members were in the US on day of the attacks).
If this thing starts to unravel I think you'll be hearing a lot of frantic damage control, not war drums. Not that I wanna impugn the rest of the Bin Laden clan. The evidence in the public eye suggests they considered Osama the black sheep and kept him at arms length long before the brown stuff hit the spinning object. |

Quite plausible and reasonable, Danya and Farren. Plus the Saudi govt. and its rich families together with Kuwait's and other Emirates' probably have in excess of $2 trillion invested in the US and US denominated assets. It's a financial relationship and the oil....

And that, I would say, is pretty much the clincher.
