Default 20% would cut me off

I wonder how we would have voted given percentages rising in increments?

20-40, 40-50, etc? I think 25-30%? chance of failure would be my cut off.
Perhaps a little less then that would cut me off -- 20%? . After all I would not like to push my quantum immortality theory too far.

As one of the last things to do in old age quickly approaching death, yes, I'd do it; but as of this moment a 1-2% is too high for me. Whilst I don't doubt the incredible experience it must be, there are far too many other low risk things you can do to get similar (and different but equally powerful) experiences. Laying on the roof at night staring up at the stars and chewing on the very simple idea that, as Carl Sagan says, "we are made of starstuff", is one example. I really can't justify entering into such a high risk quest for one experience when there's (hopefully) still much time left to do other things.

Well, I already engage in much riskier behavior - I drive southern California freeways to and from work every day!

Hell yeah, if there was an opening on the shuttle for me, I'd go! Maybe I could be an experiment - the effects of space travel on flabby, out-of-shape people.

Or if they have a need for more research on zero-g sex... have they done zero-g BJs yet?

Edited to add...
And if I couldn't go into space, I'd at least like to take a ride on that plane they use for weightlessness training - I think they call it the "vomit comet" (!). Sounds like fun.

Naw. And it's not out of fear of dying - I wouldn't do it if I had absolutely no chance of dying in the process.

Space is not glamorous to me - it's been trod upon and trashed with the space junk and bodily waste of every yahoo who had a few billion or so dollars to burn. Considering that all I'd be able to say I'd accomplished later is, "HEY! I fly up real far!", it wouldn't be worth the vomiting and skeletal woes that vacuum would unleash upon my system.

They did? Who, when? Is there a website about it? How come I didn't hear about this? Seriously, did this really happen?

I'd go up in a heartbeat!

You know it's coming, once space tourism becomes popular enough, somebody's going to make the first zero-gravity porno.

I would go--1-2% isn't a big risk for me. I would be terrified--but fear is not a reason to stop yourself from having new experiences. If I didn't do things I was afraid of, I would never have had kayaking lessons or flown to Cancun or snorkeled or spoken out loud in Russian class . . . etc. And I'm not talking about unease, I'm talking about heart in my throat fear.

Nothing in this life is risk-free.

This will be the only way to save the space program. The procedes from "NASA Does Space" will keep them going for the next century.
