This is a topic which I have waffled on both sides of the issues. I used to be pro-death penalty until I realized an innocent could be erroneously convicted. Now I would rather a person be confined for life with NO option of parole.

On the other hand, I have always been pro-choice. Then there was the time I was pregnant for about a week and miscarried. I did feel like I was losing a child (okay, potential child). Then, after going through an entire pregnancy and knowing the exact stages of development of a fetus, I changed my opinion to a more moderate stance of setting a legal limit for an abortion at approx. three months; and after that period allowing for an abortion the case of medical danger to the mother. With modern day medical care, a fetus can survive from 23-24 weeks, so I think we start crossing the line if we abort a fetus & it can survive.

I guess I'm not answering the original question, but I just think this is too grey of an area to be comparing both issues. I understand his thinking, but he is a man who has never been pregnant so he really can't understand the woman's viewpoint (sorry for sounding sexist, but on this issue I am).

Edited to say I just saw the moderator's comment above, so since I am new here I apologize if this commentary belongs elsewhere! Thanks.

"Why is that most of the people who are against abortion are people that you wouldn't want to fuck in the first place? Boy, these conservatives are really something aren't they? They're all in favor of the unborn. They'll do anything for the unborn. But once you're born, you're on your own. Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months, after that they don't want to know about you. They don't want to hear from you. No nothing. No neo-natal care, no daycare, no Head Start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothin'. If you're pre-born, you're fine; if you're pre-school, you're fucked!

Conservatives don't give a shit about you until you reach military age. Then they think you are just fine. Just what they've been looking for. Convservatives want live babies so they can raise them to be dead soldiers. Pro-life. Pro-life? These people aren't pro-life, they're killing doctors! They'll do anything to save a fetus, but if it grows up to be a doctor, they just might have to kill it? They're not pro-life, they're anti-woman. Simple as it gets. Anti-woman. They don't like women. They believe a woman's primary role is to function as a brood mare for the state. If they think a fetus is more important than a woman, they should try getting a fetus to wash the shit stains out of their underwear. For no pay.
