Shades of Columbine, anyone? While I do find Rachel Joy Scott's posthumous testimony moving, her answer to Dylan and Eric was irrelevant. She would be dead no matter what she said.
I was pretty sure that snopes.com had shown the whole "she said yes" thing to be a myth. Someone besides the girl who was shot was asked the question, and said yes, and was not shot. Almost immediately after, the girl who was shot was... well, shot, while trying to escape, IIRC. I can't find the link though. Anyone know what it is?

Good catch, Rimstalker.

This is the first article I found:

But Ab_Normal, you make it look so easy!

I also found the article on snopes. I have II to thank for that...pretty much every "touching story" I get through email these days gets immediately wrung through the Snopes filter. Thank you infidels!

And, really, what's with the "funny how"'s that got stuck on to EVERY SINGLE GOD SPAM I see? They're old, they're overused and, quite frankly, I don't see what's "funny" about them.

(pause to take deep, calming breath)

This email just really got under my skin for some reason (and continutes to do so...maybe I need to find some other hobbies...). I was particularly irked by the emphasis on the "atheist parents". I mean, wow, they really nailed the "atheist lifestyle"...not a day goes by that I don't shoot my wife. Errrr!!!!

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Okay, done ranting (for now).

Yep, and I've seen about two or three other threads in this (Secular Lifestyle and Support) forum about that particular mass e-mail.

You should reply to whoever sent you that e-mail with "Kissing Hank's Ass".

From snopes link:

Quote:
Allen says he and his brother have tried to track the tale's source, without any luck. It's posted on dozens of Web sites -- usually with a title such as Held by Jesus or And the Little Child Shall Lead Them -- with no attribution. "We don't have a clue" about its origin, Allen says, "but if it ain't true, it ought to be."

Imagine that, a Christian disappointed at the possibility that a story involving atheist parents and murder/suicide may not be true. I must say that it is a shame that Jesus may not deserve credit for standing by and doing nothing again where this story is concerned. Nevertheless, I cannot count the number of times I have heard a horrible story such as offered in the godspam and been disappointed upon learning that it might not be true. Maybe somebody can find a true story similiar to this one and email it to this ass so that he can write another hit song.

Talking

I was pretty disturbed by that comment, Chad.

"Boy, I wish more parents killed themselves in front of their children, so that Jebus could watch and do nothing."

What kind of sick people are these?

Thumbs up

I think I'll just start directing any senders of this sort of crap to Snopes, in lieu of a better response.

Heathen quoted some godspam which said
Atheists are people who don't believe in God. I don't think there are any in Chula Vista. At least there aren't any who come to our church.
Well, of course not! We atheists don't go to church! I could go on to counter other parts, but I'm allergic to godspam and can't take being around it very long.
