This thread reminds me of Nicholson Baker's writing. Specifically "The Mezzanine". It's a great book. He gets all kinds of obsessive about many, many, many piddly daily-life details.

(For the record: CLOCKWISE.)

Took it back, no problem. People won't fuck with you if they think you're crazy.

Specifically, over the proper way to tighten the ties. My contention, the correct one I believe, is that clockwise tightens and counter clockwise loosens - the old, "righty tighty, lefty loosey" rule.
OMG, are you sure your name's Howard? You sound exactly like my husband. This had gotten so bad at our house that I purposely would twist it the "wrong way" just to piss him off. Now we just save the little plastic dohickeys that come on some loaves of bread and re-use them.

Your husband sounds like a very wise and wonderful man, madam. I hope you heed his wisdom and show your gratitude in some special way. BTW, twist ties, when used properly, can be excellent marital aids.

It turns out I'm "righty tighty", but I don't twist the tie that way. I close the bag with my left hand, apply the tie with my right, and spin the whole loaf so that it turns towards my face.

BTW, all you campers, remember to use elastic bands instead of twist ties - if you drop one, they're biodegradable (not very, but better than metal-and-plastic).

Ha!

My response to this dilemma would be simple, tie tem both ways.

Twist it clockwise about halfway up, then hold the juncture and twist it counter-clockwise th rest of the way.

And reverse the order next time around.

Sorry, but this debate has no middle ground. You are either a clockwisist or an aclockwisist.

Twist tie agnostics be damned!

Nah. Too many youngters here. Besides, it's dangerous if you twist the wrong way.
