From birth (usually) these kids are taught to trust the church and the priest. Especially in the catholic church with their rituals, one being confession. These kids are taken advantage of fully, and I will go out on a limb and say that most are to scared to talk because of the wrath of god that will befall them.</strong>
There's a world of difference between this post and one saying "just assrape God."

Hopefully, one of the side-effects of the attention being focused on this problem in the RCC is that those who have been abused will come to realize that it is not their fault, and not God's fault, but the priest's fault -- and that they'll expose the harm done to them and begin the process of (a) healing, and (b) getting the pedophiles the hell out of the Church.

edit to say this: I think I see where you'r4e coming from with the assrape comment. I didn't look at it correctly, I think.

Well, since I've concluded that the xian god is a myth, I agree with you that it's not his fault. But, assuming for the sake of argument that he indeed does exist, how is this not his fault?

BTW, great nick!

Free will. We are not automatons, we make choices. These choices sometimes hurt others. Life isn't fair. Life not being fair doesn't, however, disprove the existence of God.

Thanks.

Sorry, Pizza_of_Tragedy. I thought this thread was in RR&P for some reason, and wanted to goad you into the Freewill Defense so I could trot out an inappropriate reference to god lifting the "veil of protection" on those children. Never mind.

You're gonna have to tell me about the veil of protection thing, by the way. It may be a new one on me...

Even long before this new publicity, catholic pedophilia has been common knowledge, so no excuses.

I am sure if someone mentioned that most of the children molested seem to be boys and stated gay pedophilia has been common knowledge there would be dissent. Let us not stigmitize catholics.
