BBC Online

I also have my alarm set to NPR, which is usually rebroadcasting the BBC when I wake up. Usually at least a couple of good stories break through my groggy haze

I live under a rock. I stay away from news shows, newspapers, online news, news radio. The only news I hear or see is when people are discussing it around me or when I get a link to it on a forum. Keeping up on news is just too depressing for me.

I chose "newspaper", because that was my primary source among those you provided. I get most of my news from CBC TV and Radio.

You should have included the option:

Public Broadcaster (NPR, BBC ...)

Alot of folk here at II recommend the BBC but i find their analysese superficial at best and they are frequently slated by Edwards at MediaLens. Radio programmes like Today ostensibly give interviewees a hard time but rarely penetrate beyond surface concerns, while the situation was worse on television (back when i used to watch it). I'll agree that their online content is better, though.

I suppose the best option is to try plenty of different places. Tracking Zar and Buffman whenever they post is also a good idea, i'd say.

I voted Online, because that is my major source, but like most of the rest, I don't go to FauxNews or MSNBC. I surf on a pretty much daily basis ...
  • BBC News
  • CNN.com
  • Guardian.co.uk
  • The Drudge Report
  • The Detroit Free Press
  • Infidels Newswire

And one or more times a week ...
  • American Atheists Flash Line
  • ACLU News
  • Bush Watch
  • Washington Post
  • New York Times
  • ZNet
  • USA Today
  • The Onion

I like to mix it up a bit, read a few things [DRUDGE, mainly] that piss me off or make me laugh at the blatant spin.

Yep, I can't pick any of your options either. I listen to NPR during my commute, try to glean some info out of the local fish-wrapper, and extensively surf for my news, trying to hit the full political spectrum. I just don't go to FOX or MSNBC that often (don't watch them on the telly either).

Winnipeg Sun - Sensationalist and right wing (though they're pretty fair - gotta give them credit).

Maclean's - 'Liberal' weekly Canadian news magazine, miles ahead of Time or Newsweek.

Global National - Half-hour news program with Kevin Newman.

The National - CBC with anchor Peter Mansbridge.

Cursor.org - Funny, irreverant, quirky and *gasp* liberal! The bane of every Bushite.

That's about it. And the odd Yahoo! newsline article from Reuters or wherever.

But as for FauxNews, MegaDave, this is the absolute worst source around. It's to the Whitehouse exactly what Pravda was for the Kremlin. Zero credibility AFAIC.

Too busy. No time for news. Wait. What am I doing posting here?

Seriously though, I try to not pay attention to the news, since most of it is bad anyway. I'm tired of watching the US and the world go to hell in a handbasket. It's depressing.

CBC
The BBC
Unknown News - That's good for some anti-establishment news. Some real strong stories, some real weak ones.
Newsworld International - For Americans that can't watch CBC.
National Public Radio - Which apparently is the mouth piece of liberalism. Still trying to figure how folk and classical music and Car Talk is liberalism.
