It looks like the shop owner is going to stand his ground. I hope it costs the Kingdom Life Christian Church a hefty sum.

from wfsb.com

Quote:
MILFORD (AP)- A local church could find itself in the awkward position of being a landlord to an adult video store.

A day after Kingdom Life Christian Church announced it had raised enough money to buy the building housing Video Pleasures, the store owner said he is staying.

Michael Friend said Wednesday that he intends to exercise his option to extend his lease for three years.

However, Friend adds that he would consider a cash buyout from the church of about $200,000.

I'd still rather they own the building housing the porn shop! If they buy him out, they'll turn jthe place into a "Family Bookstore"--that's no fun.

True, it wouldn't be more fun, but it would relieve them of some cash -- and that's always a good thing.

They might not have anymore left. They have already shelled out $250K for the building. That would leave most churches strapped for cash.

Personally, I think that their money would be better spent helping bring people out of poverty, or, if they insist on using it to discourage the use of pornography, to develop a ministry to help people to stop using pornography if they desire. Of course, that would take a lot of work and is not as exciting as a fundraising goal.

True true.

It'll be funny if when that 3 year extension runs out and the business is booming, and they're able to buy the whole place back from the church! Or, better still, if they're able to move, say, a block or two away and into an even bigger building, leaving the church with an empty $0.25M building!!!

Give them away at baptisms and say they are a gift from Jesus.
