Default Odd musical preferences

Anyone here have any rather... perculiar... tendencies as to what they listen to? I have this odd love of Synthesizer music...
As I type this, I'm lisening to old SNES game music...
followed up by Alan Parsons project! This is going downhill really fast...

I listen to Rockabilly and the soundtrack for Oh Brother! Where Art Thou? when I do genealogy work. I absolutley can't stand country music and normally this stuff would make me want to claw my eyes out... but I just have to listen to it to get into the right mood to do this stuff.

I should know better than to discuss this here.

BUT I DON'T. I'LL NEVER LEARN.

Love the Hank Williamses Sr. and III, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash, Gene Vincent, Roscoe Holcomb, and almost any scraggly old hillbilly I can find. So there.

I also enjoy some twee, J-Pop, and creepy German disco.

It could be worse. I could like Chicago.

You're right, lisarea, it's hopeless. You'll never learn.

I utterly love the full ochestral concerts they do over in japan of Nobuo Uematsu's FinalFantasy music. Some of the older stuff, taken out of midi and put into a massive concert hall, absolutely astounds. I'm thinking especially of Kefka's Theme. Those drums! Those brass sections!

I'd love to get the recordings, but I make do with the PC.

As long as you understand, lisarea, that country died a horrible death somewhere around 1970. You can tell it's dead by the horrendous stench of country music today.

I've developed a really odd musical taste in the past 12 months: silence. And I'm not talking John Cage. I haven't listened to music in about 12 months, and I must say, I don't miss it at all. I especially don't miss the manipulative aspect of music. Very odd.

Art is necessarily "deception" in one way or another--the most important has been to make the deception convincing. I don't know...I am actually quite moved when I listened to pieces by Stravinsky, Bartok, Album Berg, and Hindemith. Early 20th century classical music in general.

Oh yes, those are all amazing. Have you ever heard anything by Heitor Villa-Lobos (20th century Brazilian composer)?
