Default Have to brag a little

It's not much to real athletes, but I did the bicycle leg of a International distance triathlon today. 40K in under 1.5 hrs.

Now I'm motivated to do a full triathlon by myself. (We'll see how long that motivation lasts).

Thumbs up

See now, I clicked on this thread expecting to see some braggin' on your bike.

And I wasn't disappointed! Muscle powered is even more impressive than the motorized kind. Great goin', BigJim!

Thanks everyone. And the best part is that we did it to raise money for the Lymphoma & Leukemia Society.

There were 5 relay teams, we all finished, and we raised about $7,000.

Thumbs up Way to GO!

That's not a bad time for 40k! Being a former bicycling fanatic (10k+miles/yr) That's quite respectable.
I remember my first (last and only) triathlon well. 40k bike, 1.5k swim, 10k run. I was doing real well until the run. *sigh*
Of course I was working as a lifeguard at the time, with only my bicycle for transportation...and that was *cough cough* years ago anyway.
Out of curiosity, what's the longest ride you've made? I've done 140 miles (Tucson to Phoenix) a few times (in the summer of course! ). I get about 70 miles to the gallon (water that is!...hehehe)
First time I did it in about 9 hrs against a headwind *grumble* With a return trip two days later that took almost as long.
A couple years later, I got it down to just over 7 hours.
Keep on ridin'!!!

Thanks. I'm pretty proud of it since I did beat my goal. The more serious guys were running under an hour, and of course that's after they got done with a swim (and the organizers screwed up the swim, it was 2km, when it was suppposed to be 1500m).

The longest I've even done in a single day was a 100km, and that was :cough: quite a few years ago. Actually, I may have done a longer day in the middle of a week long 250 mile ride. One day we had several flats and fell behind schedule, so we might have done around 70-75 miles the next day to make up for it. I can't remember the details.

Until I started my training for this ride about a month ago, I probably hadn't been on a bicycle in 15 years. And the longest ride I did in training was about 17 miles, though it was in the mountains of west Tucson. The Triathlon bike course was pretty flat, compared to where I trained, with only one steep hill (three laps around an 8.3 mile course).
