Kudos to those of you with the patience to swim in that cesspool on a regular basis. I just spent an hour lurking there and reading through some of the threads in the Biology section, and I am amazed at what they (still) allow Socrates to get away with. Denis Lamoureux shows up with apparently the best of intentions, behaves toward Socrates like a perfect gentleman, and gets his head bitten off in the rudest manner. Then Lamoureux is censored?!?
I can't account for the moderator's actions, in this and many other instances, except to agree that S. enjoys a special status at Theologyweb that they aren't coming clean about. Safarti? I'm inclined to think so. Prick? Most definitely. BTW, in my searches on Jonathan Safarti, I also encountered a Dr. Julian Safarti, mentioned in connection with some creationist to-do. A specific search on that name didn't yield any more information; however, I only used one search engine. Does anyone know anything about this guy? Does Jonathan have a brother? If so, and if that brother happens to be named Julian, this could be another possibility for Socrates' identity since it's not unreasonable to think that siblings engaged in the same venture might ape one another's rhetoric. /Edited to add/ I revisited the site at which I saw Julian Safarti's name mentioned, and it turns out he is or once was a contributor to AiG. An article ascribed to him from Nov. '98 is mentioned. Interesting. |

Note that the guy's name is Jonathan Sarfati, not Safarti. So if there is a creationist by the name of Julian Safarti out there, he's probably not related.

I have the impression that spreading lies and posing as the mightiest crusaders for creationism is a calling for the AiG weasels, and whatever money they get from selling their crap and donations is just convenient bonus.

I suspect that Ham's AIG salary isn't his biggest source of income. I'll bet he takes in a good chunk of change from book/tape/DVD sales... Check out AIG's DVD selection and you'll see what I mean. |

I get the AiG "newsletter," and it is nothing but a catalogue to order their merchandice. For a non-profit Christian "ministry" they sure do try to move a lot of products.
