Default Charles Schultz

I was just checking out the famous dead non theists page. I was very suprised to see Charles Schultz listed. It mentions he said in an interview he considered himself a secular humanist. This comes as a pleasant suprise to me. Does anyone know more about this?.

This is a surprise because an occassional Christian theme runs through the Peanuts strip.

I remember reading a newspaper article about him when he died and it mentioned that he wasn't a religious man. That's about all I remember.

That's odd. I thought I read an article where Schulz professed he was a Christian. Did he backslided?

Considering that Schulz is listed as the sole writer of "A Charlie Brown Christmas," I'm almost certain he became an atheist in his later years. No one could be atheist and write the ending of that special!

There's no question that he was a Christian. I'm looking for any kind of information that he actually left the faith.

I found this link that lists Schultz as a non-believer, along with several others.

This link has him listed as an atheist also.

Here is the interview where he refers to himself as a Secular Humanist and has some harsh words for fundies and religious cartoons:
