(It was lonely, too, as there were maybe a handful of people in the whole arena who were Flames fans.) The Blues fans around us were incredibly nice and didn't give us a hard time at all. They showed a great deal of good sportsmanship and camaraderie. Of course, the Blues also won . . . .
On the other end of the spectrum, on at least two different occasions in Baltimore, I had things thrown at me by the Oriole fans, simply because I had the audacity to wear a Blue Jays hat. One of those times, the Orioles were playing the Rangers.

Similarly, a few of my friends are from Michigan, and are Red Wings fans. None have been treatly kindly when going to an Avalanche game. One was even called a "child abuser" for simply allowing his son to wear a Wings jersey to the game.

I'm still impressed Kariya was able continue playing after that hit by Stevens. Would've been nice to see him win the cup after returning to play.

According to a talk show host on WQAM in Miami, the ratings for the spelling bee competition which aired on ESPN was greater than the ratings for the opening games in the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Doesn't surprise me. There only seems to be certain areas in the U.S. where hockey is big. All of them are located close to the U.S. and Canadian border. Even then that doesn't mean NHL hockey will be big. Watching the various Minnesota channels up here I'd say high school and college hockey are bigger.

It wouldn't bother me as much losing our teams up here if they were going to places that appreciated hockey.

You consider it an "honor" just to look The Mug in the Hockey Hall of Fame?

Man, you are like, pathologically Canadian.
Atone for your blasphamy now!

Booing a loathed rival team as an entity is one thing. Booing an individual player who is being presented an award he deserves is quite another, and is incredibly nasty. What's the point? Shame on those Jerseyites.
