Great topic!

1. Zone out song: (for some inexplicable reason) Tori Amos' "Little Earthquakes".

2. Catharsis song: NIN "Head Like A Hole".

3. Libido song: Almost anything by Portishead, "Crush" by the Dave Matthews Band, "Closer" by NIN, "Without You I'm Nothing" and "My Sweet Prince" by Placebo.

(I could probably think of more but thanks to just hearing a bit of music that always instantly strips me of my will to live and makes me want to hit something has made it impossible for me to think straight...thanks dad. )

4. Music so beautiful it hurts: "Exit Music (for a film)" by Radiohead, "Hey Jude" by the Beatles, and quite a bit of classical music.

5. Song that makes me feel safe: "A Warm Place" by NIN...it's the song I listen to on repeat whenever I'm dealing with hard core depression.

Default Re: Mood Music

1. The Blue Danube by Johann Strauss - Everything is good when this music is playing.

2. Closer by Nine Inch Nails - Anger, sex, anger, sex. Not a healthy thing really, unless you're screaming this song in your car.

3. Strange, I don't have one.

4. Roads by Portishead - This song often makes me cry.

I know it's been said, many times, many ways, but great topic Uzzah.

Trying to limit these to just a few...

1. Your "zone out" song that makes you realize exactly what's important in this world.

- Enya's "Paint the Sky With Stars" Greatest Hits (Many Clannad songs, as well)
- Dream Academy, "Life in a Northern Town"

2. Your catharsis (rage) song.

- Drowning Pool, "Bodies"
- Reel Big Fish, "Skatanic," "Everything is Cool"
- Filter, "Welcome to the Fold"
- Living End, "Don't Shut the Gate"
- Godsmack, "Keep Away"

3. Your libido song.

- LL Cool J, "Doin' It" - Daaaaaaaamn straight

4. Your song that's so beautiful it hurts to listen to it.

- U2, "Walk On," "Where the Streets Have No Name"
- Rush, "Time Stand Still," - No guff!
- Peter Gabriel, "Mercy Street," "Here Comes the Flood"
- Jump, Little Children, "All Those Days Are Gone"
- "Lord of the Rings" soundtrack...Too many songs to mention (For example, "In Dreams," played during Fellowship's end credits)

5. Song that makes you feel safe, stable, comfortable

- The Police, "Everything Little Thing She Does is Magic"
- REM, "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?"

6. What song brings the most intense pictures to your mind (whether about the song or something else)?

- U2, "Beautiful Day" (I was once told that U2, more than any other band, can deliver the most intense feeling/image of the "sky" - And she was right. )

Wow. Somebody's gotta ship some prozac to that vegan.

Incidentally, I have a Belle&Sebastian song called "Get me away from here I'm dying." I procrastinated from listening to it for months. Until one day I finally did and lol! it was the most cheerful song I had heard in a while.
