Angry Help, CD stuck in PC

I can't get the CD tray to open so I can change CDs.
The Windows Media Player is working fine and playing music I have saved from assorted CDs.

In the past sometimes it did not open when button was pressed so I pressed gently on blank panel just below the CD tray and it opened. That does not work this time.

I could call the store where I got the PC but they are open only M-F 9-5 and I want to play things other than the saved stuff, though I will live with that if no one has any ideas.

THANK YOU FOR READING and any ideas :boohoo:

Does your CD drive come with a manual?

Default Thanks tk but

I don't remember ever seeing one when I got the new PC,
I will get my box of PC stuff off the top shelf and look for one.

Thanks for a helpful idea.

Red face IS my face red

After climbing Mount Bookcase and cleaning an inch of dust off old PC stuff box, going down memory lane through all sorts of old set up and tech info to find that there was no manual for the CD drive, trying various HELP links and search engines, looking in 2 old PC books, THEN ...

Yes, I pushed the button and it

opened ??????????????

So with a Mozart CD playing and the morning gone, I wonder

when the silly thing will stick again :banghead:

Thanks again tk for the concern and helpful idea

I don't know how common it is now, but most CD drives (and Mac 3.5" disk drives where you normally ejected the disk through software) used to sport a pin-sized hole on the front. If the power went out, you stuck a pin or a straightened-out paper clip into the hole to manually eject the CD.

Thumbs up That works,

T H A N K You UNDERCURRENT

I tried it with a large paperclip and it works better now :notworthy

SO now we know what that little hole is for, which I never noticed before.
