1. Since I left home at 17, I've moved at least once every single year of my life.

2. I love to hike the mountains here.

3. I'm half Irish, half Cherokee. My Mother is Irish, My Father is Cherokee.

4. I can whistle/chirp almost like any bird... this is extremely amusing as I walk through Walmart... everyone keeps staring up..looking for a bird..

5. My eyes are so dark brown, they're almost black... just another part of the curse I carry.

6. I taught myself to swim, and it's one of my favorite pasttimes.

7. I spent 8 years in the military,,, don't ask.. I don't care to relive those experiences.

8. In work, at home, and in public..just as I act online, I'd do almost anything for a laugh.

9. I love to deep sea fish... when I can't get to the ocean.. I settle for these 'teeny' fish in the lakes here.

10. Never dare me to do something.. (you'll wind up taking me to ER/Trauma ward..lol)

1. I have acute photosensitivity. That means I can die from solar exposure.

2. I am an advocate of the "Legalise It!" movement.

3. I first fingered a girl when I was 7 or 8 years of age.

4. I scored an INTP-personality in some Jung-type test.

5. "I" is my favorite letter.

6. In the past 2 years I've nicked 2 bookcases worth of books and 5 large stacks of magazines. It's an unhealthy habit, but what can I do?

7. Favorite Cigarette: Cartier, Favorite Poison: Vodka

8. Favorite Writer: Kurt Vonnegut

9. Favorite philosopher: Borat Jagshemash

10. I do not value human life and do not find anything special about babies.

1. I have never had any desire to gamble, and don't understand what some find so fascinating about casinos.

2. The first movie I remember seeing is Raggedy Ann & Andy Meet the Tickle Monster, when I was maybe 2-3 years old.

3. I taught myself to read at age 3 and skipped kindergarten for (among other reasons) telling the school evaluators that the difference between milk and water was that milk had calcium and water didn't.

4. I grew up in an agnostic/atheist household, but became a born-again Christian at age 13, and am currently a neo-Pagan with Discordian leanings.

5. I had voice lessons in high school and made it to All-State for voice twice.

6. On a good day, with no distractions, I can read anywhere from 10-20 books a day.

7. As I also grew up in a vegetarian and natural foods household, I have a wider variety of vegetarian foods I enjoy than does my husband.

8. Since I have always been a social and political liberal, I confused the heck out of the Young Democrats at my college when I attended their meetings, causing one of them to exclaim once, "If you're a Christian, what are you doing here?"

9. I don't like most televised sports or news commentators, and if I want to see an event in the making I turn to C-SPAN, because it doesn't include irrelevant commentary (e.g. "He's heading toward the podium now, Bob, wearing a blue suit and appearing very confident" ... well, duh, like I can't tell that by WATCHING?).

10. I am a big movie buff with some odd and unconventional enjoyment of movies. If I'm in the right mood, a trashy movie like (I am really not making this up) "Terror Tract" with John Ritter can entertain me for hours.

Bonus Features Include:

11. Member of a Unitarian Universalist church
12. Hates baby dolls and doesn't much like babies, either
13. Detests the "Kidz Bop" compilations for including the adultery song "Follow Me" by Uncle Kracker
14. Has found an opinion by Justice Scalia she agreed with
15. Has absolutely no lesbian tendencies

1.) I also love popcorn and love to add brewer's yeast, garlic powder and tamari to it. My wife calls me "pook" and calls this concoction "pookcorn".

2.) I got stopped by German customs agents at a ferry terminal about a month ago and detained for four hours while they searched us and our car. They found some contraband and I had to pay a small fine. They didn't find all of the contraband.

3.) I can read upside-down faster than anybody I know can read rightside-up.

4.) My name is most commonly used for females although I am a male. I very frequently get mail that addresses me as "Ms." or "Mrs.".

5.) I won a spot on the spelling bee and knowledge bowl teams every year that we were forced to try out, but declined to participate in the actual competitions due to a crippling fear of public speaking.

6.) I have been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, and my quote makes me sound as if I have some sort of mental dysfunction. The quote is accurate.

7.) I have what some have called an "unhealthy fascination" with knives and carry a pocket knife nearly constantly.

8.) I roast my own coffee, and can generally identify the region in which coffee was grown just by its taste. Although I live in a city noted for its coffee, I can count the number of "acceptable" cafes that I have tried on one hand.

9.) I once jumped a 1974 Datsun pickup truck over 35 feet. The truck had a large canopy on the back at the time.

10.) I have met 3 Nobel Laureates and had lunch with a Knight of Her Majesty's Court.

1. I READ THIS WHOLE THREAD. I gotta say IIDB forumites are fascinating people.

2. I'm lying, but I read about 98% of it

3. I love almost every kind of animal. I have a cat sleeping on a cushion next to my monitor, a labrador in a basket on my left, and a pug and an alsation on the bed behind me. One day I will also have a parrot, a monkey, a rat and a vietnamese potbellied pig, when I can figure out how to get all of them to live together.

4. I'm a self employed systems analyst and developer. I have no formal education for this, but I've done it well enough for enough people that no-one asks for credentials anymore. I can program in C++ (a bit), Visual Basic, PL/SQL, Delphi and Cobol.

5. I live in South Africa, am white, and am generally very happy with the way things are going. I get pissed off when people write off Africa present and future, especially in cases when a hidden racist motive is obvious.

6. I'm 33 (34 soon) .

7. I'm a Daoist/Buddhist/Humanist for the sake of general categorisation.

8. I've written a roughly 45 chapters for about 10 books, and I still haven't finished one. But I've had some poetry published and done some part time journalism.

9. I've met a lot of absolutely brilliant people from all over the world without having travelled much.

10. I see no reason to stop at 10.

11. I'm straight, but I once had sex with a bisexual friend just to see what it was like. I think a lot of straight people would benefit from doing this.

12. Two of my relationships (one lasting five years and one lasting 2) were predicated on zero commitment and lots of love. They're still good friends. I believe sexual relationships should not be normalised but adapted to each group of consenting individuals needs.

13. I'm extremely skinny. I'm a vegetarian. People often blame the former fact on the latter out of ignorance.

14. I think Greek food is the best in the world, closely followed by Thai, Japanese and Italian.

15. I'm mostly of Irish origin, but they have been assimilated in English colonial culture here. I love Italians, Greeks and Portuguese people for their passion, compassion and general conviviality. I would like to name an indigenous South African culture that I love, but Apartheid denied me black friends in my childhood, and the black friends I've related to since have almost all been Eurocentric.

16. I'm fascinated by most scientific things.

17. I love books and computer games. I read about 5 books a month.

18. I took a lot of drugs for about 7 years (marijuana, LSD and Ecstacy, mainly). I hardly ever do now, but occasionally say "fuck it" and take a break from reality.

19. I think that to love other people you have to learn to love yourself, and once you've done that, you should try to love everyone you encounter as much as possible. I find this ideal difficult to live up to but I try. I believe any anger or irritation you feel towards others always hurts you in the process, justified or not.

20. On the basis of my encounters with and reading of them on these forums, I like:

Gurdur
Christ on a Stick
Bill Snedden
Fenton Mulley
Godot
Chicken Girl
Lunachick
Soyin Minka
Ion
Henry
Vorkosigan
Peacenik
theyeti
aspenmama
Martin Buber
Sakpo
A few ppl who's names I can't remember

... a LOT.

21. I'm not sucking up to the admins and mods mentioned. Honest

1. I love lists. They say it's a first-born thing.

2. My young childhood was spent trying to drown myself, apparently. Disappeared in shallow murky water, reached into a water-filled paint bucket only to get stuck upside down , and had an enormous 4 year old body slam me in a pool.....

3. I've only dated one person. Ever. Pity me.

4. If I see an interesting picture of phrase in a magazine, I cut it out and save it. No idea what my subconscious is planning. A ransom demand, perhaps?

5. My butt is numb from perching on the wood planks my bed is on to use the computer.

6. It bothers me that I can't get #5 worded so that it's more clear....

7. I'm dreading next month - the one year anniversary of my father's death.

8. I am constantly writing, yet I never get anything to a point where it is presentable to outsiders.

9. I am living in a bright green room with beach mats stapled on my ceiling... my roommate/designer calls it "tiki".

10. I'm a few-close-friends kinda gal rather than a heaps-of-aquaintances kind. It confuses me that people will be openly two-faced to each other and... it doesn't bother them??

yeah, me too

There's a whole lot of people on this forum I'd really like to meet. I think if I make enough cash this year (which is a distinct possibility), it would be really cool to spend a few months travelling and meet whoever's game.

The only places I've ever been outside of South Africa are Zimbabwe and India, and the month I spent in India I lived in cheap hotels and spent every day with the runs (I have a problem with Indian food now) studying at Oracle corporation). I can't really complain, the main reason I haven't travelled is because there are so many good ppl I love right here and things are just grand, but I'd hate to hit like, fifty, and barely have seen the world.

I get really jealous when I hear about other IIDB members hooking up (I think you may have mentioned a group of you hooking up last year). Too afraid to attend an athiest meetup here because of the possibility of encountering a certain person from possibly the worst time of my life.

1. I always have too much to do, but on weekends, I loaf as much as possible.
2. I live in the 'coffee' capitol area, and hate coffee.
3. My first memory is of a hospital at 4 years old when tonsils and adnoids removed. (I am told I was a clutz up to that time).
4. I have astigmatism in both eyes, but in different directions (one vertical, one horizontal). Makes some 3-D methods used with computers useless to me.
5. I grew up (till age 11) on the Colville Indian Agency Reservation, but I am not a native american.
6. Once had a pet Mallard who attacked my ankles (he was later relocated to a large pond where he took over).
7. Find most professional sports to be dull to watch. Especially Football (NFL).
8. Was one of the ~2,400 at GAMOW.
9. 6'4" with a shiny skull
10. Haven't had a date in 1.5 years.

11. My name actually IS Ransom. I just don't use it much.
12. Always looking for a life. One day I will find out that I had it already.
