They do, haven't you heard of Megan's Laws. Social services takes the kids of pedophils away, they are put in jail, and then go on a public registry that tracks their movement for the rest of their life.

Frankly, I didn't know about the taking of kids away part. I know about the jailing and the surveillance (aren't they supposed to be the ones to report change of addresses?), but not about "Megan's Laws". Thanks for that info.

Are they allowed to have children after that then?

I don't know the specific letter of Megan's Laws, but I don't think any state in the U.S. has managed to make it illegal for any person to have a child for any reason. Please, correct me if I'm wrong.

You've hit upon a curious anomaly. There’s very low incidence of women pedophiles, True pedophilia means sexual attraction to prepubescent children. So to answer your question as a practical matter it doesn’t make much sense to forbid pedophiles from baring children.

Do you think pediphilia should be socialized in grade schools because its genetic?

But is pedophilia proven to be genetic yet? Or at least not proven to be a mainly social phenomena?

To say pedophilia is genetic puts it a little strong, but there is a genetic component that correlates with sex.

I know what you mean though. My own personal theory on sexuality is that it is genetically predisposed, but not genetically pre-determined.

It sorta reminds me of a situation I read in a book (fiction) before - men are genetically more pre-disposed to violence than women. If there was a way to permanently de-activate that gene or counter its predispositional effect, would it be a good thing? After all, there'll be less violence in the world, if any. But then that aggression itself is useful for many things too - namely self-defence.

Here's an article that tries to support your premise, Evolution, Males, and Violence. I personally believe the matter is more complex, but I think its pretty obvious men are more competitive and violent than women.
