Now, I would take your final quip as being sufficient as to why you don’t believe in pink dragons, but all the other extraneous “Logic” is just a bunch of illogical, prefabricated nonsense the Catholic Church has spoon fed you to “teach” you about the false nature of every claim that isn’t Catholic.

Brighid,

Speaking as someone who at one time was atheist, and as someone who is going to give her life to God in the form of religious life, I would be very careful in what you say to me regarding my relationship with Catholicism. I have at one time or another questioned every facet, saint, belief, doctrine, dogma, and practice of the Catholic Church. I have studied systematic and moral theology, atheism, mysticism, comparative religions, the Gospels, Christology, and Catholicism before reaching the conclusion that the Roman Catholic Church is the true Church founded by Christ.

There was nothing "spoon fed" about it.

In God's Love,

Gemma Therese, why should we listen to you rather than to a Southern Baptist, a Mormon, a Jehovah's Witness, a Muslim, or Hindu?

Make your own decision as I have made mine.

Gemma,

Having lived most of my life as a Roman Catholic and having done all of the things you have and quite possibly more I am ALL to aware of what is and is NOT spoon fed in the Roman Catholic Church – so whose being arrogant now? You still have failed to answer my questions. Red-seven headed dragons – yes or no? Unicorns – yes or no?

Moderators, may I treat Gemma as a hostile witness??

Gemma:

Do not begin to believe that you are excused from answering my arguments above about the existence of "God" just because I have recently addressed those arguments to Ox. I want answers to my questions as well.

And I hope you know grammar better than spelling. (Sorry, couldn't resist.)

Gemma, this thread that goes on with eight pages, keeps asking you how have you made your decision?

This thread keeps going on for more than eight pages now, because you are only preaching your belief, not backing it up.

Talk about unconsciousness.

Gemma Therese, are you really telling me that there is no basis whatsoever for choosing among the many religions on this earth? Are you really telling me that there is no reason to hold the beliefs that you hold?

I'm afraid I'm rather confused now. Remind me again why you are coming to this discussion?

Oh, I suppose when I get agitated that I do not check over my grammar very well. So, why are you afraid to answer my questions Gemma? If you are entering a religious order do you really think your God is looking favorably upon your right now? You aren’t being a very good Catholic representative. Do you or do you not believe in the existence (past or present) of red, seven-headed dragons and unicorns?

I have never read a book about pink dragons, devotion to them, and people's experience with them.
Ok, what about Buddha, Mohammed, Genesha, etc. etc.? There are books on these gods/prophets/etc. and there are millions devoted to them as opposed to Jesus. What makes your argument any more valid than theirs? There is just as much evidence for their existence and their claims as there is for NT claims. Now why is "God" special? What separates "Him" from the others? What makes him the one and only "God"?

Quote:
Men and women have not been martyred for their belief in pink dragons.
Is there supposed to be a point to this statement?

Quote:
Cloisters of contemplative relgious orders do not exist to love and adore the pink dragon.
Well, if everyone else jumped off a bridge...

Quote:
Schools, hospitals, universities, charities, and nursing homes do not exist in the name of the pink dragon.
And they do not all exist solely in the name of Yahweh either.

Quote:
A pink dragon did not die for my sins.
ROFL. Let's not even discuss the ridiculousness of the trinity. Besides, what proof outside of a fairy tale book do you have that Jesus did this?

Quote:
I have no historical or personal reasons to believe in the pink dragon.
Sorry to bring this idea crashing down on you, but you have no "historical" ideas to believe in Yahweh or Jesus (as the messiah at least) either. The Bible is what we like to call a faulty authority. And your portrayal of the Bible as a "historical" document is a logical fallacy known as Appeal to a Faulty Authority. The problem has to do with the fact that the events of the Bible and Jesus crucifixion do not coincide with historical facts, but instead, blatantly contradict them. Another problem is the fact that other than the Bible, I don't think there are any other historical documents that deal with the account of Jesus' life.

Quote:
Does this suffice?
No.

Quote:
By the way, all the athiests here keep asking me to "prove" the existence of God.
No we haven't. We've asked you to give logical proof, explain, or give evidence to support your currently unsupported assertions and assumptions.

Quote:
Why should I make the effort, when there is no argument under the sun that would penetrate you?
Yet another hasty generalization.

Quote:
You have faith, too, that God does not exist
No. Since there is no evidence of the existence of "God" we have no reason to have faith for or against "Him", period.

Quote:
since the existence of God cannot be proven OR disproven
Well, actually, the problems with the arguments for the existence of "God" deal with a logical fallacy known as Shifting the Burden of Proof, which, while it effectively allows for the idea that "God" may exist it causes problems since it makes "God" and any characteristics of that god unexplainable, and therefore a moot point. Read my most recent reply to NumberTenOx to see what I mean.
