Religion, when abused, is sort of like a matryoshka or Russian nesting doll. There's a beautiful facade, but if you look closely you'll notice a seam, and if you open it up you'll find a doll called Intolerance. Sooner or later you'll finally come to the innermost, smallest doll named Fear.

Patriotism is another example of this, imho.

My brother is one of these bigots, and he alternately enrages and depresses me. Mostly, though, I guess that I'm embarrassed for and of him.

I'm not planning on having gay sex but I like to keep my options open. So can I just get the "Shut the fuck up" part?

I'm sick of it, too, and I'm tired of using people using Christianity to try and "justify" their being narrow-minded assholes. Homosexuals aren't harming them in any way. They're not out to destroy the "moral foundation of society," they're not out to turn everyone gay or lesbian, they just want to get married! Is that so hard to understand? Well, guess they're running out of people to discriminate against since they can't do that to women and blacks now..

Well, I've long thought the proper response to protests against things like adult bookstores is for an attractive female to protest naked carrying a sign "Dressed as delivered by God", "How can this be sinful?"
