Well, after my first reaction, I had time to think and I have revised my opinion thusly:
ofertheloveofpete! As near as I can tell, acceptable music is "solemn". Music that sets your toes to tapping, makes your heart soar, or just makes you feel happy to be alive is "evil". Yah, whatever. And as for rock music being "rebellious", so? What's so bad about that? If it weren't for rebelliousness, this wouldn't be the freaking U S of A! It's just a personal pet peeve of mine that a lot of religious types condemn rebelliousness and defiance and overlook the fact that if it weren't for those very qualities, we'd still be a colony. The good old USA that these guys keep fussing about pledging to would not exist. I mean, okay, it wouldn't be so great if everyone were rebellious/defiant all the time, because nothing much would get done. However, some days it takes a certain measure of defiance just to get out of bed in the morning! |
