Default David Cross: Full-Out Atheist

I don't know how many David Cross [Mr. SHOW] fans are out there, but has anyone picked up his comedy album, SHUT UP YOU FUCKING BABY? I hadn't realized that Cross was an atheist, but if it wasn't known before it's certainly out now. He openly declares his atheism on disc one (to less than enthusiastic response from the crowd) while discussing Judaism (he was raised Jewish) and "the stupidity of the South," Southern Baptists. Then, on disc two, he goes into a full-blown tirade about religion, the Bible, Promisekeepers, etc.

Funny stuff, too [but not for children!]. He mentions wondering how, exactly, Cain was "punished" by God ("He got to move away from his parents, and he was given a wife he could fuck anytime he wanted to!"), and in trying to explain how the world went from three people (Adam, Eve, Cain) to the millions of Noah's time ...

"There was a lot of mother fucking going on. Mother fucking, and daughter fucking, and sister fucking, and of course father fucking, and neice fucking and cousin fucking ... "

Putney Swope got me into David Cross earlier this year. His bit on "Footprints" is priceless. "Maybe I was out helping one of the other millions of people who pray to me, you selfish fuck."

Been a huge fan of David Cross since I first saw Mr. Show 7 years ago. Very very funny stuff. I would actually say it is one of the funniest tv shows of all time. I caught his stand up last year in Athens, Georgia (which I think some of that show is on the cd...not sure though) and he had me rolling the whole time. He speaks his mind, that is for sure.

And I would agree.

Speaking of which, where the heck is the third/fourth season DVD?

David Cross for this months cover story. With his skillful information extraction, such as the sly question asking technique, he tricked David into revealing information about his new movie featuring Jim Carrey, the release of his new DVD, taking home a FOX paycheck, the future of Mr. Show Live, and Weird Al, aka Weird.

Mattt Alright, David Cross. So, as I told you, I talked to Lance,(be sure to check out filmmaker Lance Bangs interview) and he pretty much answered everything for me. I want to get your side of things too, though. Can you tell us anything about the upcoming DVD, "Let America Laugh"?

David- Well first of all, I dont know what Lance told you, but hes a liar and I dont appreciate anything he said on my behalf and ummI really believe whatever he said, just reverse it and thats what I believe. My side of the story is that, I think it's going to be a heartwarming and uplifting, uhh and also one of the scariest DVD releases in a long time. Where it allows us to look kind of at ourselves how we, and I dont mean that as Americans, I mean that as North Americans, and how we interrelate with each other and just who we are the species. [More ... ]

Ahh David Cross, a hero of mine. I love to let unsuspecting people listen to his cds in my car. I saw him on some late night talk show, he said he had an addition to his cd . The part where he says "George W. Bush just may go down in history as the worst US president ever", he has amended to "George W. Bush WILL go down in history as the worst US president ever."

That reminds me, I really need to pick up the Mr Show dvd's. I've been meaning to for awhile now. Its one of my favorite shows of all time.
