Maybe because *gasp* she wanted to get laid and you looked inviting. Maybe those other guys looked inviting too.

She could just be using an old trick that us guys are known for... telling you she loves you to get in your pants!

Not another incisive sterotypical attack on Teesside's industrial image from someone who has never visited the place (don't say you have - you're a geordie and you're still alive). Most of the fumes are NoX, SoX, and Amines. Mind you, it's no more than I would expect from a geordie. They're all gormless by and large.

Has it occurred to you that your observations along these lines might be affected by the fact that you likely don't date men?

I have roughly the opposite experiences. I've had men I barely knew at all tell me they love me. I was once proposed to on a second or third date (I don't remember which), by someone whom I hadn't even kissed apart from a single, polite, goodbye peck.

I could just as easily ask the same questions about men, but for the fact that I assume that behavior isn't exclusive to them. People are flawed. Some behave that way because they're deceptive. Some are delusional. Some are just dumb.

I assume the only reason I've only had these experiences with men is because I have only dated men.

And I'm not Monkeybot, but one of the laziest people I've ever met was black. She was a coworker, and she literally spent all day at work doing personal chores. I worked there for several months, and in that time, her work accomplishments consisted of writing a couple of memos. Most days, she did nothing work related. She showed up about half the time, and even then, she'd often leave for hours without notice. When she was in the office, half the time she was getting into bidding wars on eBay (which I was responsible for because I'd shown her HOW TO TYPE IN A URL), and the other half she was looking at autopsy and crime scene photos on the web. She had an existing heart problem, but despite that, when she wanted to lose weight, she decided to try to get some Phen-Fen, rather than actually making the effort to diet or exercise (this was AFTER that combo was banned). She was stupid, lazy, deceptive, and just plain nasty. Oddly enough, though, I chose to hold her responsible for her behaviors, rather than simply applying it to all black people or all women or all people from Texas.

I once knew TWO Australian men in a row who were weepy, crossdressing alcoholics. Should I reasonably assume they all are? For all I know, they are. But would it be fair for me to assume that--to just take for granted that any Australian man I meet is going to be wearing a dress and sobbing into his beer any minute? Or would it maybe be fairer to assume it was a coincidence, or even that I emit some kind of pheremone that reacts with the unique physiology of Australian men that makes them wear women's clothing and get drunk and cry a lot? Either of these explanations are more plausible than the first, based on any kind of sample group I might experience in my lifetime. With a sample size of two, I'll lean toward coincidence. If I were to meet 100 Australian men who behaved the same way, I'd lean toward it being my fault. I still would not assume that this was a universal. (I would, however, move to Australia just because I think that would be funny.)

Huh? Are not you generalising?

Well, yes I was, Totalitarianist. How observant of you. Your intellect must be in fine form today.

It should be obvious, however, that I was using a technique to point out to M&M the fallacy of making such generalizations, and that I do not actually believe those generalizations. It would be a bit silly of me to do so, since, after all, I'm a man and do not fit either generalization of men I made.

Me & Me, where do you meet women? From your posts here I have concluded that it has to be one of the following places:

Frat parties

Sorority parties

Young Republicans conventions

A sleazy modeling agency

If you don't want to meet mean, superficial, manipulative women, you have to stop hanging out in the places they congregate.

You guys are right. Generalizing is always bad. LOL

I meet women anywhere from shopping stores, or restaurants or pretty much anywhere. I don't go to frat things, or know anyone that does. Those are for the pretentious bourgeoisie. LOL

I resent that. Most of my best friends are pretentious bourgeoisie and they're all communists. They have never done an honest day's work in their lives, so I'll grant the similarity to students though.

You ought to make it clearer that you are not being serious.
