Many commentators and politicians whilst speaking critically of American military policy, or of the Bush administration in particular, often seem to feel the need to also say something like "...but there are a lot of good things about the United States". But they never say what those good things are.
After 911 Bush said something along the lines of US being attacked by people envious of freedom, suggesting that America had some particular kind of freedom that would arouse psychotic hatred. Or if not the supposed hatred of psychotics then the cool, calm, deliberate actions of evildoers. So which is it? Are the attackers crazy or evil? And if they are evil do thay have supernatural powers? Hate to be a bore, but still no-one has seriously questioned why military jets were not in the air at least before the hi-jacked jet destined to hit the second WTC tower struck. Over an hour had elapsed since it was known that passenger jets had been hi-jacked. And their movements were being tracked on radar. Anyway... why would anyone want to attack America? Do they object to your spectacular sunsets? |

On the 9/11 thing, it looks like we're starting from square one on this issue again, judging by the OP and Loren's predictable response. Let's try the old arguments again and see if they stick this time, eh?
Anyway, hasn't this been covered at length in other threads, like this one? Maybe you can read through that and comment further if the spirit moves you. |
