I don't know about this.
Your post seems to be based on that idea that every claim must be justified or proven by a prior claim, and that this would lead us to a first assumption. But what I don't understand is, when does reality enter into our knowledge?
What is a neutral position?
If two people argues about the situation in Iraq, and one of those people has actually lived in Iraq while the other has not, who has the most neutral position?
If all claims were based on assumptions, our language would be useless and noone would be able to communicate.
Ofcourse, alot of our knowledge is based on what other people has said, but if we cannot improve or change that knowledge we would never learn anything new. And humanrace would still be flinging rocks at bears and growl at eachother.
