It's not too late. I'm 14 and on nights where I have no school the next day I stay up till about 1:00 AM. On school nights I goto bed at 10:30, so relax, it's no biggie

I've always been a night owl. Even younger than 12, I'd stay awake till at least 11, even if I was in bed, school night or not. In HS I'd often be awake reading until well after midnight.
As far as the question, like others have said, it's a Saturday (and over the xmas holidays, as well), so it's no big deal for a 12-year old to be up at 11:30. In addition, IMO, it's not really your concern to report on your son's behavior at your ex-sister-in-law's house to your brother. That's betwen them. (I would make an exception if you found out there was something a lot worse going on than being on the Internet at 11:30 Saturday night, of course). |

Uh-oh.
You would totally call social services on me. My punkass teenager is naturally nocturnal. Every single weekend, he completely turns his schedule around, staying up all night, and sleeping all day. Sometimes, I make him get up while it's still light out, but then, I just end up with a big, hulking, hairy snoring guy lying in the middle of the living room floor. No amount of kicking, stepping on him, or poking with sticks can effectively rouse him. I just use the opportunity to take lots of embarassing pictures of him sleeping and looking stupid*, and then show them to his friends. I'd bitch at him about it more if my mom wasn't always sticking her nose in and telling him stories about me. (I used to stay up for days at a time, then sleep for a whole day to make it up.) 11:30. It is for to laugh. ![]() Near Halloween, when he fell asleep wearing a child's Jiggly-Puff costume. One of many times he's fallen asleep on the dog's ass. Poor dog. Edited to add some embarassing pictures, in case anyone thought I'd make something like that up. |

Lisa, do you know how disturbingly like my own mother you sound? And I'm not even a big hairy hulking snoring punkass teenager! (Well, okay, so I'm kind of big . . .)

I'm normally up until around 1am on school nights, and 3-4am on others. 11:30 isn't too late, I don't think-- unless he's getting up exceedingly early.
