I note that the T.O. page cites either Leakey or Ngeneo as the discoverer, depending which page you look at.

I also see that the "line up" Pan t. pic has a totally different occipital from any bipedal animal.

Here is another good photo of an A. afarensis:

Maybe I should just go fishing today.

Thanks Doc! That site is marvellous! I've previously had trouble tracking down decent afarensis skull pics -- so much so that if you'd asked me off the top of my head if there were any, I could only have named the 'Lucy' fragments!

Be prepared to see some of those pics again...

Thanks Oolon--it was the only one that gave me even the slightest pause.

I've exchanged a few emails with the guy about his site, correcting his 'USS Beagle' error, talking about coelacanths, his endorsement of Jonathan Wells's Icons of Evolution', which, of course, he had not read (but found 'well-researched'), and Darwin's 'racism'.

He was surprisingly receptive to the Wells information I gave him, contradicting his assertions about peppered moths; however, time will tell if he removes that endorsement. And he appeared open-minded about coelacanths.

Darwin's racism was a different matter. When pushed he simply retreated to saying Darwin's effect on society was racism, and atheism to boot. Why both existed prior to 1859 hadn't occurred to him, I guess. And he then began throwing in the kitchen sink about macroevolution not being observed, and natural slection being a tautology, blah, blah blah...and ended by apologizing for not having time to spend debating the issue.

I think he can only be pushed so far, then reteats to the familiar litany of creationist bullshit. Too bad.

If the author's name is Mathew Taft, then he's shown up at NAiG to defend his work. This could be interesting....

Respectfully,

Wow. Endorsing a book you have not read is not a very wise thing to do, but neither is critisizing a book you have not read. I have seen people from both sides do both, and it is something that really does irritate me a bit.

I buy creationist's books used. Why pay full price for crap, and why give them a royalty.

I originally read it chapter by chapter at the local Barnes and Noble. Then I would place it in the 'Religious Fiction' section when I was done.
