Being angry is a normal and justified emotion, just as being sad is.

Yes, I think so.

He mentioned a while ago that reading my posts back when I was ill was part of the incentive for him to get help, at one time.

I wish help had found him this time

It's so hard that we're saying all these things now...I wish we could go back and say them to him before he made the final decision

Nevertheless I'm glad to see how many people care and have good memories of how he touched their lives - diana, please do pass on to his friends that he was much appreciated here and will be greatly missed.

Sounds good, Ronin. Whatever helps in dealing with grief and all the associated emotions...

I see a lot of people are posting little poems. Reminds me of one written by MadM in <a href="http://iidb.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=54&t=000771&p=3" target="_blank">this thread</a>--

I just found out last night, when I came home from work. I'm still thunderstruck.

Like many people here, I read MadMortigan's posts and laughed madly over them, or stared open-mouthed in wonder at them, and wished I could be one tenth as clever and insightful and articulate as he. I have taped particularly stirring quotes from various sources to the monitor at my desk at work. One of those quotes is his.

From his profile and his picture and his words, he seemed a brilliant, sardonic, vibrant, and beautiful man. I wish that I had known him, and it pains me and saddens me inexpressibly that I cannot.

From JonUpNorth, fellow IPU prophet and friend:

With so many laughs shared, it is difficult to know just where to even begin. MM and I had every intention of getting together in Vancouver some time this year. Sadly, that never happened. MM's intelligence always impressed me. From his keen mind came forth a wonderful and lively sense of humour. I also remember MM's careing nature. After the shooting, MM and I were on the phone numerous times. He'd call me at home and at work just to make sure I was holding up. He was a very kind man indeed.

Though there is no such thing as immortallity, he will forever be part of my memories. My thoughts go out to his wife and family. For all of us who knew him and called him a friend, may we take a peice of him with us.

He knew how to be both frivolous and caring in exactly the right measure. There are far too few people with this skill as it is. What a sad waste.

PS: I hope his marvellous website survives for a long time - it is a fitting tribute to a very funny, and thoughtful, man.

Nothing that I could say would be right. But when I think that this witty, funny, irreverant man is gone, I am incredibly sad.

Only just heard... and it looks like you've all already said what I would have tried to. But Kally's 'NOOOO!' is about right.

Very very saddened.
