There is no need to ever register for PNAS to read the free articles. All PNAS articles from 1990 to 2001 are free to anyone. Articles from 2002 will become free after six months. Articles that are not yet free require a subscription (individual or institutional) or a payment. There is a site that has the pre-1990 issues, but that would require a subscription (that many universities have).

Thanks. I was just wondering if Bonobos were more related to us than chimps. If chimps and bonobos are equidistant then there’s no quandary. I heard/read that Bonobos were more related somewhere but I couldn’t recall the reference.

It seems like there’s no definitive word here on how related we are to Bonobos or whether they’re more related or less related to us. I thought if any people would know it would be here.

Thanks anyway.

I'd consider the evidence pretty definitive that chimps and bonobos are each others' closest relatives, while humans are about equally distant from both of them:

(note: pygmy chimp = bonobo)
