No, nobody says this world is fair. It isn't at all - you never know when your time is up. That is why God told us not to wait around, procrastinating to the make the choice. If you spend 20 years rejecting God, ignoring all the pushes to find Him ( and God does try to bring everyone too him - people just tend to ignore him and call things coincidence or all in your head), then it is your fault for waiting around. But that still doesn't explain why some people clearly do get more time to decide. In my original example, if the first man had died at 20 he would have gone to hell. Why did God give him 50 more years to ensure his salvation? It seems highly imperfect of a diety to arbitrarily discriminate like this when the stakes are eternal torment. |

Magus:
I'd rather live a horrible, unfulfilled life than ever give up on God ( and i'm basically at this stage). I'm curious, which stage? Living a horrible, unfulfilled life or giving up on God (I suspect the former, from the structure of the sentence)? In either case, it sounds like you may be going through some struggles, and I hope you can work through it. And feel free to ask for help here, or PM me if you wish if you'd like some advice or just an ear to listen. |

This was always one of the things that bugged me the most about Chick tracts, there was always some guy who listened to the fundy, took a whole lot of notice of what he was saying ('Jesus died for my sins, you say? Wow, he must have been a special guy...and I never knew") and generally seemed to agree, but decided to think it over before really making a commitment. But of course, he'd always die that night before he got the chance and get sent to hell, haw haw haw! I mean dammit God, if you want people to believe in you, can't you at least give them a chance to start barracking for your team?
