I think you guys are on to something here - it would be great to have a day to celebrate religious (and non-religious) diversity in this country. I hate the idea of a christian-biased NDP, but it sure would be great to go down to the local courthouse and hear speeches from Buddhists, Native Americans, Muslims, Christians, Jews, Secular Humanists, etc.
How about "Thank Who/Whatever for the First Amendment Day"? But seriously, folks, during the Bicentennial there were some events to observe the Bill of Rights enactment. Why not make an annual event to celebrate the genius of the Establishment Clause and what it hath wrought to benefit all religions? Those Christians attacking the wall of separation evidently don't get it. They need to be enlightened.

Hmmmmm....should that be made retroactive to the Founding Fathers? (a league that George Bush doesn't even belong in)

I received an email newsletter from the Council for Secular Humanism which said that they proposed a push to begin calling May 2nd "Rational Thought Day" as well. It's supposed to begin 5/2/2003.

I responded that we should simply call it "Sending Our Thoughtwaves into Outer Space Day" (kinda hi-lites the silliness of it)
