He did in the book of Job in the Bible. He may have been fired later, though.

You know, one of the things I like about atheists is that they don't think of people as going to hell for disagreeing with them. Why take that away from the list? The list is shortening as it is. I know you're being hypothetical, but that kind of thinking is so wrong that it's still bad even if hypothetical.

Jamie_L, close but no cigar. Some gods want you to be an atheist, and some don't. Not all of them.

One of the things *I* like about atheists is that they can be irreverant and not take religious discussions so seriously. Why take that away from the list?

Anyway, if you want, think of "hell" as separation of god rather than a lake of fire. I am not wishing Xns to be punished by god. Heck, I'm not wishing anything, really, just thinking out loud.

IMHO, no kind of thinking is wrong as long as it is hypothetical. One of the purposes of thought is to decide what is right or wrong before acting on it. It is one's actions that can be wrong, not one's thoughts.

Default Judgment Day, date_End of Time

All of the dead are in a large space facing God for judgment.

God: "All those who believed in me without question throughout life, believed in the scriptures literally without critical analysis, and took it all on faith. As promised, you may stand on my right side."

"All of you who found scriptures dodgy, doubted my existence, refuted my theology with reason and logic, thought Noah's flood was either ridiculous or morally repugnant, critically analysed all claims, and took no assumptions without evidence. You stand on my left.

"OK, all of you spineless, gullible, unthinking, sycophants who believed in me despite my doing my best to make my existence unquestionably impossible. You who accepted goofy assumptions of faith despite lack of evidence. Go TO HELL, you mindless robots. You bore the shite out of me. I would go crazy if I had to put up with your boring arses and blank brains for eternity."

"You sceptics who found theism a baseless hypothesis, thought for yourself, doubted or denied an invisible, improbable being, used reason and logic to evaluate evidence, and argued against assumptions. You are to pop on up to Heaven. I want to spend the rest of eternity with intelligent rationalists, logical thinkers, minds willing to debate and refute arguments. We can have a stimulating time."
