Default Are you stocking up for wartime?

So, are you buying duct tape and canned food for the the impending disasters? I want to be skeptical and not buy into the whole media-panic thing, but then again, it would suck to be without food after they blow up our local Safeway.

Heck, no--I'm not buying extra food and trying to make a room in my duplex "safe". Good grief.

But, when Y2K was all the rage, I tried to convince my parents that they shouldn't worry about food--they should stock up on ammo, cigarettes and liquor. Black market currency. Bwhaha.

They told me to stop reading books set during WWII. Meanies.

I live about 85 miles from a B-1 bomber base.

That could be good or that could be very bad.......

You should have had a poll for this thread. No, I'm not stocking up for wartime. If I were going to stock up on anything, however, it would be gas. The prices are going to skyrocket.

Of course, gasoline turns into turpintine after a while... :banghead:

If you pay attention to the vultures...er...um...I mean newsanchors, then we should all be terribly worried. As much as I try not to let the news get to me, I work in a hotel business center where we have to have the TV tuned to MSNBC or CNN at all times. After a while it starts to wear on me and I di things like hopping on the internet to ask all you wonderfully smart people and sane people what you think!

No, I am not buying duct tape. But I am practicing the duck and cover procedure. That will keep me safe from nukes, right?

Just bananas and ciggies, but only because we are to get yet more snow this weekend. Not on account of any terrorist hysterics.

yesterday at lunch with my brother, who is also my supervisor, and the vice president of marketing of the company I work for, the subject of preparations for terrorist attacks came up. the vp of marketing, mark, who is college educated actually said that he had stocked up and bought plastic and duct tape.

My brother, ever the realist, said that if he was really concerned he would stock up on guns, bullets, and marlboro lights in the box.

I told mark that the duct tape thing reminded me of the whole hind underneath your desk in case of nuclear attack from the fifties.

the funny thing is mark thought that I was full of shit cuz I am an atheist.

he also didnt believe me when I told him about dresden and that bush said that atheists cant be patriotic americans

the things theists will believe
