how funny, thats almost the exact opposite move i made, phoenix to mountain view i believe you on the mortgage vs rent deal, its one of the primary reasons i want to move so badly..i found a decent recruiter so we shall see what happens

But on the bright side, for you, I think the housing prices in the Valley are going to crash, and crash hard, in the next 2 years. They aren't far off the highs from 3 years ago, and there simply isn't anything holding up those prices. Just like the stock market, it's a case of finding a "bigger fool" who wants to pay more for the commodity.

There simply isn't any sound reason why a moderate house should sell for half a million dollars. House prices don't drop as rapidly as stock prices, but once a solid trend develops, I'm sure the homeowners will be trying to bail out before it drops too much. And condos will drop much faster.
i am so with you on the housing price....its ridiculous that the dot-comedy nitemare pushed prices up so high..

and im sad ab out the economy tho..i really miss the heat, and of course my friends

thats for helping me look at the bright side, tho, that maybe i could afford a home here in a couple of years...

In short, I understand your plight.

maybe we could form an infidels support group for peeps who are lookin' to move

at least im not the only one tho i did find a great recruiter in phoenix, if anyone needs a recruiter...only thing is, he really doesn't have anything for me now. someday, tho...my goal is to be moved by the end of the year

A few years from now, the deals on houses will not be as good as they are now. Your mortgage will almost assuredly never get a better deal than now, based on the economy. Unless, of course, it slows further. Mortgage rates are good now--so good, in fact, one of my friends bought a house (approx 80,000)...on McDONALD'S PAY! And in winona, that ain't so good. (6.45/hr) right now. He got a second job, so his mean pay is closer to 7 an hour and 60 hours a week, but he was able to pay the mortgage without it.

So try and find a job in Phoenix that is decent and you can move there.
