I do think there wasn't really a way they could have given us a complete ecosystem, and I don't think that future forest only contained the squibbons and the megasquid. I'm betting the reason most of what we saw was on the weirder side was because this was a TV show, and they figured we wouldn;t want to see the speication of the future equivalent of mice. It really did annoy me that they kept using will rather than could. That was probably the single worst mistake of the show. I still think it might spark some imaginations. I hope it does.
