Hey Jeremy,

Can I send you my husband's? They are cluttering up the bathroom floor!

Absolutely! However you may find he won't be too happy about that.

I don't know about him, but I would; and I'd demand the gun magazine back.

I forgot my most recent obsession--devil duckies. They are rubber duckies with horns and evil eyes. I love 'em. If you don't know what I am talking about go to darwinfish.com. I have a red, blue, yellow, purple, glow-in-the dark, the polka-dotted one and a small red one I hang off my rear-view mirror. I want to get a tattoo of the red one on my ankle.

Cool

I too, am more of an accumulater than a collecter. I have a shed full of vintage Harley parts, almost all of them worn out and worthless.

Also, I aid and abet 10 venomous snakes --down from 16 last fall -- and a small, ill-tempered mud turtle.

Collect on purpose....hmm
Rootbeer mugs from A&W, XXX, Dog & Suds, etc (any)
All Pratchett books (some hardcover UK editions, most US) anyone know the difference?
Red Dwarf tapes
DVDs

Accumulate (collect not on purpose)
Every spare screw from every computer I have ever had
Every laptop computer I have ever had (hey, they still work!)
Also have the monitor and old computer problem
Also have many OS CDs
Car parts (It's always a good idea to have 6 spare engines, isn't it?)

Recently cured of:
hanging on to magazines (hey, they went to a lot of trouble making them all slick 'n stuff, must keep!) Now they are around maximum 2 months, then gone.
socks (when your whole foot goes through a hole, they are done)

I have a total of one plant. Came with the house. Still alive after 2.5 years! It has green leaves...

I don't like to accumulate things, since I'm in university and have to haul my crap home and back every summer. However, I have way too many of two things:

1) Dishes. People compulsively give me dishes. I have 3 pots, 2 cookie pans, 2 cookie tins, spatulas, lifters, a whole china set, etc. that people have given me because they somehow think that I have access to clean, spacious, non-mold-accumulating kitchen facilities in a university residence. Bear in mind that I've barely been living on my own for a year and a half, and I only ever sought out one mixing bowl, a china cup, silverware, and measuring spoons.

2) Music books. Books of sheet music I will never play, will never have an interest in playing, etc., that I have lying around just in case somebody wants to borrow it or asks if I can play it for them. Also music textbooks. I think I have 5 different comprehensive histories of Western art music sitting around, plus a huge music dictionary, a whole series of in-depth studies on musical eras, 4 books of symphonic scores, 2 rock music history texts, one American music history text, and tons and tons and tons of folk and pop music books that I actually use. Plus all the old classical books I used to play from in a past life.

I collect hotel soap. I never use it, but I can't pass it up when I'm staying somewhere. I can't bring myself to throw any of it out, either, so I have a ton of it.
