Your point... is?

Do you get my point that it reasonable and understandable that atheists talk about Christians? This is a simple point. You won't be disproving Christianity if you agree with me.

Speaking of scary minorities, Christian minorities scare me too. Here's a link to a particularly scary individual.

Is reacting to the possibility of a oppressive minority rule by such Christians enough reason for atheists to discuss Christianity?

Truly a good point, but it works both ways. There are lots of Christians that feel as though the courts, public schools, and television are rubbish these days largely because of the influence of atheists. There are Christian zealots and there are atheist zealots too. I still think that theism is not the problem. Intolerant people are, and they can be theists or atheists.

I disagree. It shouldn't be surprising that creationists and ID'ers want to refute theories that they believe are in direct conflict with the bible. That is usually viewed by creationists as a necessary step in trying to convert non-Christians to Christianity.

Wait a sec..you think it's perfectly understandable that creationists spend oodles of time - indeed an entire lifetime in some cases- arguing against something they believe is false...and yet you seem genuinely perplexed that an atheist might argue against something he thinks is false?

???????

Maybe I'm just itching to try out my new moderator status and actually get to MOVE a post somewhere, but personally I think this belongs in RRP.
