After posting this last question, I realized just how sad it is that I have to ask these questions here.

... I wasn't over at CF much to know much of what is going on. I never heard or noticed this person before: "D.Scarlatti"

... What "ShabbyChick" has said. Has gotten my curiousity. I'm not sure where to find "D Scarlatti's" Post at? But I be curious to know what some of those things where that where said.

So far as I could tell, all moderator actions are logged; that alone helps a lot. Basically, moderators can see and discuss the actions of other moderators, and there's a preference for discussion before taking action.

I'm not sure I can say much more than that; after all, the discussions there *are* confidential. I will say there are discussions, and that I think any problems with the system are a small minority of cases - which isn't to say it wouldn't be worth fixing them, IMHO.

For what it's worth, I understand a couple of the people who were in conflict got reconciled since the big long flame war.

Yesterday on a thread at CF,( I think it was the Jesus rising from the grave one) a couple Christians were ganging up on Scarlatti. They made me feel embarrassed to be in the same religion with them. Aaron11 Called Scarlatti an idiot among other rude comments. Scarlatti kept control and tried his best to explain that he was not trying to destroy faith... but to question. I made one post to Aaron to watch what he is saying. He had no idea what I was talking about. So rather than have a fight between Christians on the forum... I sent him a pm to tell him what he should have known...no personal attacks allowed.

No moderator stepped in at all!

CF does not work as a Christian Forum should work in my opinion. They allow way to much leeway when a Christian wants to trash an Atheist.

And you know what... I couldn't even post this on CF.

Thank you IID for giving me a place to vent!

Hi, Stormy.

I hear you loud and clear! I don't go much around the different fora at Cf, because of time constraints (it would cut too much time into my time here ), but I have read a lot in the News and Current Affairs fora - Take a look in there. You'll see how rude they can get. Ad hominems, flames, and bigotted comments by theists who are either mods or friends of the hierarchy are ignored. Anything that barely registers on the "I disagree with you" scale is deleted or moderated. Attacks are a free-for-all in some cases.

You know what I don't understand, Stormy? Now, I'm not up on my bible study - I've never been indoctrinated - but I always understood Christ to have almost been the first "hippy", if you like. He gave to the poor, and tried to live peacefully and communally. (Correct me if I'm wrong!). Yet, when i suggest such things I'm called a marxists/socialist/commie/peacnik who's anti-American and just plain stupid! Where's the love of Christ in that!! Heck, I thought the teachings of Christ pretty much revealed him to be a Socialist democrat, didn't they?

I dunno...

I don't know the politics of that particular board, but it's too bad that the more liberal christian types don't form their own board, with a more relaxed and tolerant atmosphere.

I have seen a couple of similar boards, and in a few cases, the liberal chrstians were putting up with crap from the rather vocal fundy types on the board.

It doesn't take a whole lot to set up a board.Just a server and some bandwidth.

Bye guys

I can't in good conscience participate in a thread that gossips and bashes my friends at CF, my loyalties lie with God and I support the CF staff 100%.

The mission statement is clear and the board is what it is, and the people on staff there do a good job running it, I know I started off saying some things I regret, as I reflect I am sorry and I am ashamed that I would have a part in bashing my friends who share the same belief as me, as a Christian I am a member of a place that was established to bring all Christians together as one body and to provide a ministry and an environment for all to enjoy, and I thank Erwin and the staff for working so hard to uphold that.

<Edited for little tiny goodbye preach. You just couldn't resist, could you, Sean? Take care of yourself. Ciao, liv>

It is a scary thing when people can't see both sides.
