I wish I lived near enough almost everyone on this thread to meet them and hang out. And all of my friend would find you wonderfully cool too.

Anyway, if anyone's still reading, here's me:

1. I have more hair on my chin than on top of my head.
2. I carry enough bits of regional accents that no one can figure out where I'm from (dad worked for the railroad; we moved a lot).
3. I like it cold, dark and wet outside, but warm and dry inside. And yes, I'm talking about weather and housing.
4. I seem to be wildly attractive, but only to completely insane women.
5. I once ate a bowl of live ants. I was having a midnight snack of inadequately-sealed cereal. They're kind of salty, but otherwise not bad.
6. Once I get going, it's hard to shut me up about really obscure ancient history.
7. I write for a very bad living at a very bad newspaper.
8. I'm registered as a Democrat because it's hard to get elected as a Bolshevik.
9. I took years to learn to whistle, and still can't snap my fingers. I think the latter has to do with the texture of my skin.
10. I have never liked or understood any kind of sport.

This thread is a pretty good read. Figured I may as well do my part to keep it active. Here ya go!

1.My paternal grandfather was a Lithuanian who served in the Tsar’s Cavalry. He deserted before the revolution.

2.I have a relative (great-great uncle?) on my mother’s side who served in the U.S. Cavalry. He deserted during the Cowboy and Indian wars.

3.I bear my grandfather’s surname, and that uncle’s first name. Additionally, my grandfather’s first name (English version) was very similar to that uncle’s last name, which just happens to be my middle name.

4.I served in the 1st Airmobile Cavalry Division in Viet Nam – and, no, I didn’t desert, so I guess third time’s the charm, eh?

5.I’ve been happily and faithfully married for almost 30 years. I’d like to believe that I would never, ever, cheat on my wife, but I do have this wonderful recurring fantasy about Leann Tweeden……………..;-)

6.I think a good motorcycle ride (street or dirt) is the next best thing to sex.

7.At my house, I make dinner 5 nights out of 7.

8.I get a kick out of the TV show “Iron Chef” on the food network and watch it whenever I can.

9.I grew up on a farm and milked cows (by hand) twice a day, 365 days a year from age ten to age eighteen.

10.I’m a scotch snob and prefer strong, dark, smoky, young single malts, with a good bite. I think blended scotch is an abomination and should be outlawed!

I absolutely love watching the iron chef! I liked that time they had to use all the squid. Those judges get some good food!
I really like watching the naked chef too that is kind of how I cook, no measuring just toss it all in...

Dates? No problem, Amie. If you ever get hold of my ATM card, my PIN number is the date of the fall of Constantinople to the Ottoman Turks (early in the morning of Tuesday, May 29, in fact).

Well, both my kids go to college classes (every might of the week) in the evening, so they eat at 5. My wife works late, so she eats at 7 or 7:30. I get home at 4:30, make dinner for the boys, then work out, so I eat about 6:30. Take your pick!!!

I cook a lot like Jamie Oliver, don't think I've ever made a recipe the same way twice!

PS - Morimoto rules!!!

AMIE, et al: If you like Louie's NINTH , you might want to hear his *Choral Fantasy*, a kind of trial-run up to the Ninth/ "the Little Ninth". I'm too old to remember right, but I think the Op. number is around 88, something like that. Oooooh, the (sopranos, chorus entry, a fairly high piano) makes my hair stand on end ,unheard, in-mind....
OOOOhhhhhh! try it, Amie; a treat in store. Grandpa
