Default Newest right-wing trend

So I know it's not really new at this point, but I think we are now at the point where we can call it a trend. That is, conservatives' new favorite pasttime of stating that anyone who speaks out against current policies as "aiding the enemy".

From this CNN article:

Quote:
"When the Iraqis see media coverage of disgruntled Americans publicly campaigning for the return of our soldiers from Iraq, they are encouraged and believe their strategy is working," wrote Anita Blount in an open letter to spouses in The Frontline. The publication is a community newspaper in Georgia for Fort Stewart and Hunter Army Airfield, home to the 3rd Infantry.

Anita Blount is the wife of Maj. Gen. Buford Blount, commander of the division, who is in Iraq leading his troops.
Comments like these, which have been going on since the start of Gulf War II, as well as vile attacks like those of Ann Coulter's, seem to indicate that this is the newest weapon that conservatives are routinely pulling out to try to silence those who oppose them.

It's really not all that new. Those guys have been touting this ridiculous 'you're either with us or against us' crap since 9/11. Remember that we are not supposed to question the President in a time of war?

Actually, I remember similar, much more virulent, cold-war tainted crap during Vietnam. Bob Hope and John Wayne, et al., were experts at that sort of bilge.

It will fade as more and more people move into the opposition. On the other hand, die-hards will become more and more insane.

I predict a new rise of militiaism as the administration becomes more and more embattled. And that is native american fascism.

As I posted on July 15 in the Ann Coulter thread:
Quote:
Her points are no different than Rush Limbaugh's points, Bill O'Reilly's points, Sean Hannity's points, or Michael Savage's points. ALL of these jerks have asserted, at one time or another, that if you thought that the US mission in Iraq would be plagued by failure or reversals, you were "rooting against America." In other words, to express any sort of a reservation, whatsoever, about what the US was doing was to engage in "rooting against America." And obviously, anybody who is "rooting against America" is not only unpatriotic, but deserves to have their citizenship stripped and then be deported to some nasty place where they will hopefully be killed slowly and painfully.

If you listen to the talk radio hosts I've mentioned above for any substantial length of time you will hear them preach about various aspects of what I've set forth, above. Ann Coulter is one of their darlings (along with Ayn Rand, by the way), so I would believe that when Ann Coulter mentions these same "catch phrases," she is referring to the same scenario I've described, above, where dissent is unpatriotic and grounds for revocation of citizenship and expulsion from the United States.

Anybody who rembers the old "America, love it or leave it" bumper stickers essentially has a good grasp on where this set of degenerates is coming from.

And no, she does not have any valid points that I can discern!
No, its not a new trend ("America, love it or leave it" has been around since the 1960s at least).

Nope. He said, although the official White House transcript was editted to omit this, that you should "watch what you say."

Driving up to a meeting and the boss had Glen Beck on talking about how we are the masters of guerilla warfare, that we should learn the lesson of Vietnam and just "hide behind rocks". He went on saying that it was the visions of dead children on tv that made guerilla warfare good for the other side.

I had no fucking idea what he was talking about. Why couldn't that fuck and Limbaugh and Hannity and all those other military avoiders have been in the Trade Towers?

We are slowly losing our troops and these fucks are using liberal compassion to flaunt as America hatred. So all I want to know is the death toll that is needed for us to become right? I mean does another Lebanon need to happen, where 300 American soldiers are slaughtered in the explosion of a bomb filled truck suicide attack? Or would that not be enough either?

I mean, all they say is that another mass grave has been found. They don't give a fuck that Iraqi's were being slaughtered at any point in history. It was Iraq was a danger to US, the U.S.A. Now they are hiding behind a cloak of compassion, saying that we don't care. What jackasses!

And you know what's going through my head. I'm glad I decided not to do ROTC a few years ago when I went to college. I'd be over there with absolutely no physical support. Who the fuck cares about moral support from stateside. That doesn't stop rocket propelled grenades! Don't these pundits get it?

No, he said something like "this is no time to criticize the president. There is no time when you criticize him."
I remember the "watch what you say" threat. What a dick.

Could there not be bumper stickers like:
Iraq, love it or leave it!

Since Joe McCarthy, you mean.

They also did it during the Vietnam War.

Conservatives hate it when anyone breaks ranks and disagrees with the party line.
