I bought at the same time as my player. Someone on this forum had said "The Matrix should be included with the purchase of a new DVD player."

But I bought it specifically so I could watch FotR: extended edition.

The only DVD I own is the National Championship game between Ohio State and Miami. I don't plan on buying a DVD untill the Lord of the Rings comes out in a box set.

Can't remember. But, I did buy my DVD player before they released DVD's.
I probably just randomly picked 5 DVD's at the time, I have 350 of them now.

I also have 100+ LD's, I don't remember the first one of those I bought, but I started late in the game because I never had money for them. LD's were so expensive compared to DVD's. I still like them better though (not video quality, just the player and how you can manipulate them).

They Live.

The most important documentary about the Reagan era ever produced (with American Psycho running a close second).

The Truman Show

I bought one pretty early when prices were $300+. My wife was at first pissed at me for wasting that much money when we already had six VCRs. When she saw Jim Carrey speaking French with Spanish subtitles, she thought it was too cool and I never heard any further complaints .

THOUGHTfully Yours,
Clark

New version? I wasn't aware of one. What's on it?

As for the o.p., ours has a cute little anecdote. We kept forgetting what our first DVD was, and now, I just tell my wife to remember what it is: Remember the Titans. I don't know exactly why, though.

Now we've got a bunch of Barney, Elmo, and even Winnie the Pooh on DVD.

Oh yeah, and someone got my wife ...Ya-Ya Sisterhood for her birthday. I put The Matrix on my Amazon.com wishlist, along with Band of Brothers, but no one's gotten me either (yet).

On my own I picked up KoRn's new CD Untouchables that came with a short DVD of some videos of theirs.
